I agree with others when they said you are a wonderful storyteller! This was an excellent story time. I think being a polite, respectful person at Hermes goes a long way and the first SA liked you and could see that you are a good person. After hearing a sample of what the SAs deal with day in and day out, I’m sure they want to identify the customers with manners and patience and reward that if they can! Thanks for sharing!

What an incredible story. We are from Arizona and were at the FSH boutique last year right after NYE. An American man was yelling at one of the hosts because she brought him Diet Coke instead of regular Coke. My husband and I were horrified and embarrassed to be Americans. The one thing we have learned after being in Paris many times is you need to be nice. Say hello and goodbye in French; something so simple and respectful goes a long way.

I remember sitting at a random restaurant in Budapest and was beyond excited when the table next to me was full of my people. We were the only black people in the restaurant. It’s so cool that you recognized it even though you’re not Nigerian. That tells me you’ve been around a lot is Igbos. You’re a great storyteller. Thanks for the insights! Really interesting to hear whats happening there. Never been at FSH myself although I am living in Europe(Germany). I think the first SA really liked you and wanted to do you a favor. Thats why she helped you getting a walk in appointment. I think it would have turned out better if you had applied the same day for the next day online for a leather appointment (I heard a few times that Paris SAs can "manipulate" the system to make sure you get an appointment the next day, but you have to apply online yourself of course)
@sococo14645 ай бұрын
Haha you probably heard that from me. I talked about SAs being able to manipulate the system for the next day in a conspiracy theories video a couple years ago. I still absolutely believe this is true. Unfortunately, I was busy for the next few days so unable to apply for the online appts.

I have also travelled to Paris twice since being here and applied for an appt both times, but I have not been so lucky. I shopped at FSH to build a hx, but that has not helped me get an appt. However, I have had a lot of success at the CHANEL boutique, where I have a really nice SA, and other nearby stores. I will keep trying to get an appt, we shall see! 🤞🏾

The Hermes experience is a toxic relationship for many- if the bags were easily available I don’t think people would be as interested. I also think the bags are somewhat old fashioned in their design imho. Yes the bags are good quality but it’s about the exclusivity and being let into the “club” and a feeling of self worth for many I think, demonstrated by the emotional people described here. The whole concept is disturbing - when people get that upset, spend thousands on pre spend and keep going back for more to be treated like that. The pursuit and rejection itself keeps people hooked like a toxic partner.

Thank you for the video, it was very informative and entertaining. I am sorry that you wasted your time and didn’t get offered a bag that you like, but this happens even if you have a leather appointment. On the other hand, I have walked into Hermès Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré without any appointment, I didn’t even know that you needed one (here in Switzerland you don’t need an appointment or a personal SA). I asked the hostess if they had the bag I was looking for, she asked if I had am appointment, I said I didn’t know I needed one and she asked me to return in 30 minutes, because everyone was busy at the moment. I got a lovely SA, she gave me three colors to choose from, one being the colour I wanted. This was in 2023, at 11 a.m. The store was full of people, very busy. I don’t mean to offend you, but I think that the stuck up SA might have disliked you for two reasons: the way you were dressed and the fact that you didn’t get the leather appointment the regular way. It’s a guess based on my experience how SAs look at people who represent their brand. Like the Pretty Woman moment in the L.A. boutique.

I've tried numerous times to obtain a bag appointment through the lottery system, as have friends and my spouse. In over 20 attempts we've scored 0. I have nicely asked at the desk if there were any cancellations, always to be told no. I did not cry, whine, yell-just said thank you for checking and went on about my way. I am not surprised by what you witnessed. I've seen people act in similar ways in my local boutique. Have they forgotten you catch more flies with honey than vinegar? And as for the woman trying to gift the candy, I'm sure she was just very happy to have received something she was wanting, but as you stated, didn't read her audience.

Wow!….That is a trip and very eye opening. I only have two Hermes non quota bags which I do like but like you I just look at them as nice bags..very well made…one is vintage over 40 years old and in fantastic condition. I got it spa’d at The Beverly location where all the SA’s were in love with the bag which they still make a version of but not like mine. Not sure if I will try to get a leather apt when I go to France but I agree….grown ass women making a scene over a handbag is a no go period. I do enjoy collecting lux bags and have been in and out of bag buying for 30 years. I think I am more into collecting ready to wear pieces as of late and enjoy purchasing an occasional bag whilst still rocking some of my old favs from the early 2000’s which are holding up great. Thank you so much for sharing…it just reinforced my position if I ever get a quota bag great and if not that is ok too!

This story has made me laugh! It’s a similar story to me really as I was a 6pm appointment which kept changing throughout the day and it was really a full time job. I didn’t get offered a bag but they were unbelievably kind to me, I saw a lot of very rude demanding people being very rude to the associates and my kindness and softness was welcomed. I think truthfully they don’t have ‘bags’ or they simply aren’t able to sell out every day. I don’t know if Paris is the same as it was and I did win the lottery and have a history. I was offered 2 great clutches and she really really did try. I believe that they try their hardest but simply there’s not enough to go around. I’m lucky I’m only in London and can go to London and Paris but I love Paris simply because the rate is better and we get tax back. I think honestly it pays to work at your home stores than trying Paris (if you have one) as it can really ruin the experience if you rely on getting a bag even with an appointment. I was also with my family and waiting for dinner so I didn’t have time to even build a relationship at 6:30pm. Xxxx

Add to that the awkward scene with the crying customer. I believe she wanted to offer you a different experience since you already think very poorly of the shopping experience in Paris.

What Hermes doesn't realize is they LOSE a LOT OF SPONTANEOUS SHOPPERS with disposable funds! 😂😂😂😂

A lot of French (esp Parisian) act like that arrogant esp to different nationalities. But to the person or friends they knew they are very nice…. I’m from Australia. I really can’t deal with this kind of attitude

I think that half interest additude is key. It works in my case. I don’t act that…it really is. And stuff is always so nice to me.I am introvert and don’t like a lot of smiling and chitchatting. I have a question to all…empty Birkin is quite a heavy, nobody mentions that. Why?😊

Birkins are all leather. inside and out. smaller sizes are pretty light tho.

The lady that was crying was doing way too much!!
@sococo14645 ай бұрын
She was doing the absolute most! 😳

While that crying lady was cringe, it seemed like she was just very disappointed. And then Hermes gives an appt to the yelling lady. This game sucks.
@sococo14645 ай бұрын
The yelling lady may've gotten her appt through the lottery or perhaps spent a lot of money to secure an appt, thus the high expectations. 🤷🏽♀️

I'm sorry but if I've got a big someone to have one of their bags it's not worth having.

You keep mentioning how awful other customers behaved and how you feel secondhand embarrassment and how cringy the whole scenario was. But at the same time, I'm confused that you let a store employee treat you like garbage. You're willing to swallow your pride and dignity for a bag. I would've been frank and leave right then and there and be withy family.

24:48 how do these grown people not realize how unethical this is for SAs, its store policy for almost every luxury brand to not accept gifts from clients, my lv sa told me the only time theyre allowed to accept them is that if the gift is to be shared with other SAs

You must have self-steem and don't beg for an ugly over priced old lady bag just for pretending that you belong to an elite. There are a lot of options and mini artisans that make beautiful craftmans pieces
