if a doctor says you need something the insurance company should have no say so and pay for it as your policy.

At some point, especially when dealing with our own health, the loss of control of our own bodies and capitalist oppression becomes violence itself. Is violence not a justified response to violence? I appreciate your take on the subject.

I agree totally with what you have said. And ironically I just got out of a 24-hour stent from One hospital to the next for a dental situation. And there's no doubt in my mind I was made to stay threatened that my insurance wouldn't cover anything if I left. And the only reason I wanted to leave was that I was getting a definite feeling that I was being railroaded. With that said nothing was done for me except some more antibiotics and set on my way. When I got home I looked at my CBC blood results and there is a lot of hi counts of some of my blood. Which wasn't addressed. So now I have to wait until tomorrow when my doctor comes in to see what is truly going on with my body. Just because I went in for a tooth problem doesn't mean that they could dismiss what is truly going on in my body. But they did and God only knows how much this is going to end up frosting me and costing me which will just go on to my credit report because I am on disability and cannot pay for an outrageous hospital bill. And I'm sure that the insurance is not going to pick up for this.

It is an evil system running as it is intended to. I get so tired of hearing people say the system is broken. We must have healthcare for everyone free at the point of service, like every other developed nation. Sorry for your struggle, gl

Allegedly shot and killed a CEO. You need to do better at protecting yourself. What you have to ask yourself is if Operation Valkyrie was successful would that murder have been wrong? Millions died due to that failed attempt to kill Hitler. I think most people would not just say that was not morally wrong but a moral obligation to kill Hitler if you had the means to do so. We can argue all day if the facts in this case raised to that level but I will make this argument. We couldn't even have a public option in Obamacare because the insurance industry pumps $156M into lobbying congress ever year. Insurance companies knew they couldn't compete with a public option that didn't have to support any executives 5th vacation home. Some things are more important for the good of society to be for profit enterprises.

I don't think you people understand what the insurance industry does to people or how it works. It isn't "broken". It's finely tuned and working as intended. It is imperative that people understand this. Anyone out there saying they don't understand how people see Luigi as a hero and how they can excuse murder must either live charmed lives, be delusional, or be massively ignorant. Don't mourn the billionaire elite Thompson, for crying out loud. Mourn your brothers and sisters who are excruciatingly suffering and dying in the millions. Sometimes, especially if you're up against one of the most powerful entities the world has ever seen, drastic action is necessary to spark the collective action needed to bring about systemic change. They have us right where they want us when we point the finger at Luigi instead of them. _They_ are the true criminals. Thompson, and his ilk, made decisions that directly lead to the deaths of thousands and thousands of people.

My other comment disappeared (maybe I was too grim?) but I wanted to clarify that I do think murder is wrong, and so is the way people are treated in our broken healthcare system - I agree with you. It's just worth noting how most significant changes throughout our history have not happened through acts of peaceful protest (though they have a place), but rather through war and uprising. I don't like it, and I don't want it, but I understand it as part of our current reality. The power has to be rebalanced somehow, and it's hard to evolve past the need for violence when lives and livelihoods are constantly under threat.

Agreed, killing another human is wrong. Having healthcare reform through a collective nature is what needs to happen. However, in my 20 years of working in healthcare, I’m not seeing this happening any time soon. There is soooooooooo many variables in this situation, that to have them all line up to come to a collective answer seems daunting. I had a glimmer of hope during the Obama administration, yet I heard lots of complaints from patients about it. State aid Medicaid/ Medical and Federal Medicare are the closest things we have to our rights to healthcare, yet they are flawed in many ways. Now companies like Humana and others have come out their own plans to replace Medicare. These companies makes the monthly premiums sound great up until your Dr says you need a specialist or any kind of imaging. Then these companies have their own Dr’s from God knows where denying this care. This is the tip of an iceberg that is so deep, that none of us really know what’s going on with these insurance companies. The other issue, is they kick you out of the hospital so damn quick, and expect you to recover at home. This causes re- admits which is actually a negative to the hospital. Our insurance companies that we and our employers pay into dictate your healthcare, period. Yet this country continues to vote in such a way to continue this Phenomenon. They say, the sign of crazy is to continue doing the same thing over and over and getting the same result. We NEED to do something different, keep doing the different until something finally clicks and works (for the most part). I don’t have an answer, but I’m willing to try changes. It’s really hard to feel proud about the healthcare system I work for, when I see elderly, fixed income patients, with bad debt, who have worked their whole lives, owe money to a healthcare organization that their COO makes over 3 million a year. That’s NOT including CEO, CFO etc, all the administration involved making well over 6 digits a year. I’m a peon in comparison, my income alone could not afford to live on my own.

It sounds like you're making an argument for something more than collective action, tbh. Without collective action on a scale we've never before seen I don't see anything changing. We need to completely do away with the insurance industry. It's a vampyric system, in every sense of the word. We must not stop until we have what they have in every other developed nation, free care at the point of service. I mean, they fkng have it everywhere else! Even in many underdeveloped nations! And we're supposed to be the greatest country in the world?! While people make billions off other people dying?!

Our medical system/care has become big business…..it is regressing. I think light needs to be shed on these issues, no one needs to be killed in the street. Extremes are not the answer.
@LukeMcGuireoides
@LukeMcGuireoides 12 күн бұрын
I'm afraid it's going to take extreme measures in order for any change to occur. The system, working as intended, is enriching it's leaders by killing people, and these people and their corporations are among the most powerful entities the world has ever seen. Our elected officials are putty in their hands, as is our newsmedia. People being pissed off won't do the job. If nothing else, and regardless of the morality of his actions, Luigi has done us a favor by catapulting this issue into the focus of our nation and bringing the grievance of millions and millions to the attention of those in power in a way which they can't ignore. They're afraid of justice and the people have been starved of justice when it comes to those in power. They're going to have to do something, and unless we remain aggravated and threatening, they're going to try to get by with doing as little as possible and essentially screwing us all over again. Anyone who condemns Luigi and not this murderous industry is an enemy of the people. The system was crafted to increase the fortunes of the elite by emiserating and killing the masses. It's time for change to come and if it comes at the expense of those who profit off this evil endeavor, then so be it. As far as I'm concerned, Luigi is an arbiter of justice.

If someone killed your wife and people said it was wrong BUT your wife really wronged them so I understand their grievance with her. How would you feel? The whole highest healthcare cost but 43 in life expectancy has so many variables. Don’t blame the healthcare industry on that. We put crap in our food here in the US that is outlawed in most other countries. Healthcare cost so much because of government regulations, not the insurance companies.

I've been horrified, and yet sadly unsurprised, by how people have made this guy a folk hero. He attacked corporations in his writings but he stopped at Starbucks on the way to murder a man (with a real family and real life) and was caught by police while eating at McDonalds.

So you can't be against corporate greed unless you're a fkn monk, or something? Where's the logic in that? What was he supposed to do, eat at old Macdonalds farm? You can't not participate in corporate America. No one can, even when they're against it. We can't just opt out of society.

What's sad is that you've taken this opportunity to mourn a man who made millions of certifying the deaths of thousands every year instead of those who died and are dying at his hands and the hands of his industry. You apparently haven't had to deal with watching yourself or your loved ones needlessly die due to the greed of the elite. Either that or you're delusional.

Sadly, what most people don’t understand or know is that the healthcare companies are only administrating what your company has set forth and agreed too. If you got a problem with something getting denied, you need to go to the head of your company. they’re the ones that can make the changes. I feel terrible for the young man who did the killing. I feel terrible for the CEO of United healthcare and his family. It’s just a bad situation. The shooter went after the wrong guy.
