My Williams Essay (VERY BAD TYPO) (SNAPCHAT??) *REUPLOAD*

I sincerely hope this goes without saying, but you're not going to get in by plagiarizing my essay; this is just a sample of an essay that worked because Williams doesn't publish accepted essays. I don't know what they liked about my essay, and the advice I shared comes only from my experience having gone through this process.
I wrote my essays very independently, which was a scary experience because I had no idea what schools were looking for. I did ask my high school English teachers for feedback when I had a solid draft on my more important essays and they were super helpful even though not many students from my high school go to selective colleges.
"What are your stats?" As of now, I'm not planning to share stats because the holistic admissions process means that admitted students' application portfolios look drastically different--and when i was applying, comparing myself to people who posted their stats only served to stress me out unnecessarily and unhelpfully. That being said, I might eventually reconsider-many folks have asked, and if that information would be helpful, I want to help! What I can say is that everyone here is super high-achieving but no one is perfect. I had some Bs! I dropped some extracurriculars! I didn't graduate high school with honors! There are students from all sorts of backgrounds, from super prestigious prep schools to community college, big underfunded public schools to military service. Schools like Williams are fiercely competitive, so from a student's perspective it seems that being an interesting applicant outweighs being "perfect." Do your best to enjoy the process!

As a prospective Williams student for 2022, I wanted to say thank you so much for your videos! Especially those regarding applications such as this one. As someone who went through the process of preparing their college applications, I'm sure you understand how much every extra bit of info helps! I also wanted to add that I really appreciate your acknowledgment of the fact that all students are different: their grades, extra-curriculars, and academic achievements; as I truly understand the feeling of jealousy and need to have a "perfect" transcript after looking at the opportunities other students have had.

I realize this doesn’t have to do with the video but do you recommend submitting an art supplement? If you decide not to can you still mention that you’re involved in that art in the application?

I do recommend that, I submitted an art supplement (tuba) at all the schools I applied to. It was definitely extra work, but it wasn’t too bad because I could use the same tapes at almost every college. Not only does it likely make your application more impressive, at Williams it means that the relevant department will know about you and get in touch when you arrive (in my experience). If you’re serious about Williams, I would also recommend reaching out to the relevant faculty while you’re in the application process to show your interest & ask any questions you have. You can definitely mention that in the application without submitting the supplement-you could mention any accolades in the “honors/awards” section, talk about it under “extracurriculars,” or even make it the topic of an essay.

We actually can't declare a major until sophomore year, so I'm really just exploring for now! This year I'm taking Geoscience, Music, Comparative Lit, Poli Sci, History, Econ, and Bio courses. Sort of leaning towards a Political Economy degree, but we'll see!
