As a chef I know the difference most people it's not common knowledge but even as someone who grew up in Toronto a Sheppards pie here or anywhere in Canada means beef, but in the U.K it's quite different.

Truly don’t understand how you got through this one. I know when I eat if I eat one thing that hammers on one note for too long I feel ill. Here you are eating this much of a wet “pie” with cheesy mashed potatoes on top. My word truly this is incredible. But it is not healthy and Joel, as an educated nutritionist can tell you the same. I weighed 400 pounds for various reasons in my youth. I have been a healthy 150 for many years but I do see the effort. The work. It takes a beast to eat that much and maintain their weight. It is not for the sedentary. Much respect Joel !!

Hey Joel. They both exist in the UK. I grew up eating both up in Manchester, and have had them for over 50 years Shepherd's pie made with lamb (hence why it's called Shepherd's! They looked after the lambs) and then Cottage is exactly the same but made with beef.

I've seen it all now. He finished 2 x 10kg cottage pies plus sides and bread in just over half the time allowed for 1. Honestly, how can anyone put that volume of food away? Gobsmacked!

It was 10kg total, each one was 5kg. It was confusing because he mixed in pounds at one point, he either said one was 10 pounds or it was all together 20 pounds at one point. If you go back to the beginning he puts on screen that each is 5kg. That’s still incredible and getting on with the upper limits, of course some have done more but it gets dangerous/deadly even under 10kg.

I did exactly what you can do, I googled it and there are at least a few people who have eaten over 20 pounds, Bob Shoudt ate 23.4 pounds of salmon chowder in 6 minutes and he also supposedly ate 59.6 pounds of food over a 4 hour time span. I’m not sure that this cottage pie challenge was actually weighed or not, I believe Joel said that the restaurant just told him each pie was around 10 pounds each. I know Joel wasn’t making any official claim here but I personally wouldn’t call this an official 20 pounds of food consumed, it would at least need to be weighed.

Shepherds Pie is made with lamb and only lamb hence 'Shepherd' Cottage Pie is beef. Not many people would put brown sauce on it. In the UK you don't need to show kids to eat veggies. Most kids happily eat vegetables

Hi Joel you were correct. Both pies have the same ingredients. The only difference is the mincemeat. Cottage pie is beef mince and Shepherds pie is Lamb mince. I am a UK native from Derbyshire, England, UK. Keep up the great work. 👍😊
