Been in a fair few of those kinds of crashes, that impact really bloody hurts mate. As ever, another beauty of a video! A word to the wise, go and do SODI karts first, the DMAX karts are a completely different animal, and Daytona operate a 125% rule for their DMAX fleet (if you're outside of the leaders times by 125%, they'll take you off).

a few weeks ago I was catching 2 guys infront when all of a sudden someone was in the barriers on the racing line going into turn 1 and that are flat out. I had to slam myself nose first into the barriers and my stomach went over the steering wheel and then two other guys came through but they managed to stop in time. The marshals took forever getting to us even though we were right next to them essentially and after that the session had ended. last time I went I found myself in the barriers going down a ramp into the last corner. Someone came down my inside when I didnt expect it and my kart had some brake issues and the track was freezing so you were basically aquaplaning and I went sideways into the barriers but I got going again straight afterwards.

Don't worry buddy. Don't beat yourself up or lose your focus in moments like 13:36. Always keep the foot down and focus on your next move. There's always opportunity to lock in and bring it back. Dive into the slipstream and see if you can help one of the lines push forwards and at least regain something after losing positions. You were frustrated and that led to passivity, which always leads to (From my own experience) "Watching" the racing ahead to see what happens vs. acting one what's happening and making a move to hang on to someone else's move. That hesitation was the only reason you didn't keep up with the pack through the hairpin and lost momentum. All good though. Great race and great video!

I used to be a regular at Nottingham before I got busy with University. We’ve had a fair few crashes there but typically me and my family are the ones to only have a couple crashes every several visits. And tame ones too, like spinning out too much after the down ramp and into the inside wall. Usually it’s first time karters or rare visitors either being chicanes and causing crashes with better drivers or just not knowing how to brake again… or trying to kill the marshals in the pits. Your crash was a pretty unique one, looked quite painful so I’m glad to hear you’re okay. Those electric karts also look different, the ones I used last time I went didn’t have a button on the steering wheel I could press. Maybe I misremembered.

I know you seem to be based around the midlands but I'd recommend making the journey north and giving Newcastle a go. Track is very high grip, very quick and quite tricky. Or try the best outdoor track in the UK (imo) Rowrah which is in the lakes. Both are well worth a look.

Ouch, that looked painful. I narrowly managed to avoid running full speed into someone who spun in front of me in a fast corner, only bumping him slightly, but then as this was past the apex on the racing line, a second later two others who didnt see the spin or me slowing down ran into me almost full speed. Suffice to say I didnt enjoy it and i got it from the back, so my back absorbed most of the hit. The one in front of me was sideways, so they had it much worse... didnt seem to enjoy either. All that was somewhat slower than the crash in this vid too, so yea... i can imagine that not helping with the mood.

So I don't know if I've actually written this in a comment but try to fit your hands a little bit lower. This results in the fact, that you can lean further to gain more grip. Try to hold the steering wheel at like 4 o'clock on the right and 8 o'clock on the left. At least, I drive like this, you can actually see this in my videos. If you like it, let me know.

the first time i ever went karting was alot of fun, we were on a good track that had grip. The first round was the best with it just being my family i race against, somehow didnt end last despite being the only one without any experience. Second round was with a big group of randoms, which was absolutely terrible. Theese folks tought it was bumper cars and i got alot of pain. The manager was nice enough to give us a refund for the 3rd round we were going to play but my family backed out since i just couldnt.
@DEADB33F7 ай бұрын
If you're driving slow indoor electric karts on tight claustrophobic tracks the low traction is kinda required to raise the skill ceiling somewhat. With lots of traction a lot of the time you can just cruise round with your foot to the floor, which leads to dull races. But yeah, proper outdoor karts on nice big & wide outdoor tarmac tracks is the way to go.

This is my local track, and initially it was quite tricky because of the combination of low-grip and electric karts - so I do feel your pain. But I would say, you seemed quite uncomfortable about overtaking downstairs because of the low grip - but going upstairs for overtakes is not the best idea when you’re quite evenly matched. Mostly because upstairs is way more risky because it’s faster and has less room. You could also try braking less - braking really upsets these karts on this track! Oh! And really bad luck on not being able to sit properly though, I had that for my first race ever there and, you’re right, it was absolutely horrible. Sliding constantly!
