Signpost is an retrained racehorse that I bought off the track at the start of the winter. She has taken to polo exceptionally well so I decided to play her in the arena tournament. Final score 18-9!!

Is there a reason why all the horses have hogged manes and is Polo always played with double bridles? Very exciting to watch. I've no idea what was going on, but it was fantastic to see the game from the saddle! Thank you.

I know that they hog the manes to keep the hair out of the way, as long manes weight get in the way of your view and the stick x

They trim the manes based on ability and training level of the horses. New horses to the sport tend to have long mains. Also has to do with mallets and reigns not getting stuck in it. Double bridles are mainly used, at least at my club. :)
