I try My best to look after it, As off today it had 1,681,535km (1,044,851 miles) on it. Once I’ve finished with it on a Commercial basis, I’ll keep it and have it on Historical Vehicle Registration. As Pressed Metal Corporation who built the body in August 1989 stopped building bus bodies in January 1991, Then the company was entirely defunct in 1999. JRA Limited who owned PMC at the time also owned Denning, It was 2 Denning Coaches involved in the Clybucca Bis Disaster which happened about 60km up the road from where I live in December 1989 when my bus was just 4 months old. To this day the Clybucca Disaster remains Australia’s worst Bus accident. PMC also bodied the Mercedes 0305 and 0405’s for Sydney buses at the time, If You Google “Sydney Buses MKV” You’ll see the similarities to My bus. Overall they are the same body with the exception of mine has 6 side windows single door and mid engined on a Volvo Chassis known as the “Metro 90”. Where the Sydney buses (government spec) on the Mercedes 0405 and MAN SL202 Chassis had the 7 side windows, Dual doors and rear engined and were known as the “Galvatross” body. I thought it was hard as well, But it’s easier then thought. I couldn’t quite get a good grip or swing on the filter wrench from above. But if you lay on the left side of the bus with the B10M’s in line with the engine and slide your self under, The Fuel and oil filters are right there and easily accessible with ample room. I was able to do it with the bus fully aired down, The only thing I had to fight was not being able to fully roll over while under the bus. As my waist was pretty much under the Battery box and oil resivoir, Other then that it was a quick job. With a workshop it’d be done in 10 minutes if that.
