Myakka River flooded after Hurricane Ian

This is absolutely devastating!!! I have a friend who has an absolutely gorgeous home with horse stables and barn and the Myakka River sits behind it. This rising of the river has slowly begun to swallow her home. Her horses are so scared and have made their way up on the porch. Her vehicle barely visible. The Ariel shoot I just seen of her home pours tears down my face as I know what a beautiful, kind soul this woman has and how much she loves her animals. And to all the other families that I am sure are going through the same. This is just absolutely devastating. 😭😭😭

That’s US17, just north of Arcadia, about halfway up to Wauchula. No where near North Port like they’re reporting. That’s the Peace River that’s overflowing there, not the Myakka. I-75 is flooded out near North Port, but you guys used the wrong footage for this segment.

That is not highway 17, the footage is of State Road 70.

@@jasonf87 Correct. I spent much of my childhood fishing/camping along the river just south of Zolfo Springs. This is unbelievable.

It can't be I-75 because this road has only 2 lanes, and 1-75 has 3 lanes throughout the area.

I saw water going over a levee on a video. Lake okeecobee will start filling up and they’ll have to start pumping water east and west. I hope it doesn’t rain for a while.

WHAT A TRAGEDY FOR SURE! MY HEARTS GO OUT TO EVERYONE..I live in Ct and was looking to move to Orange county or Lee county in the Spring..I am now rethinking this decission..MY QUESTTION>>>> how do you even clean up after something like this? Where does all the wood and furniture go? What about the cement? What is done with it? what do they do with all the boats? my mind is boggled! thank you and God Bless everyone including all the rescuers xo

We clean up and rebuild (better) everytime. It is a very organized process, all things considered. I live in the freest state in the country and would not have it any other way.
