Typical Asian pretty sure lions “Roar” and it doesnt sound anything like hiyaaaaa lol its just a traditional way to get the crowd into the fight and call out landed strikes for dramatic effect(goofy to us westerners) in muay thai we do the same by yelling ooooowaaae after hard landing strike.

I did this stuff (Bando/Lethwei) for decades and know what I am seeing and how it works. Dave Leduc is freakin' amazing. At first he looks like a guy in the wrong place, but then serves it up until his opponent just doesn't want to play anymore. In this game, though, you can't take your bat and your ball and go home. One way in, two ways out. That is the beauty of ring sports.

What a fight... clearly, Dave is a different fighter now. More experienced, more mature, more in his element. That first couple rounds was "Welcome to Lethwei, have some...," and by the end of the second Dave said, "Ohh. I like this! Let's fight." He hung in so tough with Tun Tun Min and the rest is history.... You watch Dave now, and he looks like a master with his smooth combos and elbows, not a 27 year old. Outstanding. And take nothing away from TunTun Min... this guy is off the chain. The guy is an animal. What a fight... when Lethwei percolates to its most intensity, it can make the average MMA sport fight look like an aerobics class. The fighters are out for blood... completely focused.

maybe you should have started watching MMA in the 1990s. It was literally all technique till a finish. Unfortunately, it's not the UFC's fault the U.S. wanted to ban MMA and they started adding rules. It's a different sport now.

It's was traditionally a folded #longyi of color, because since Lethwei fighters fight with no gloves, they needed a way to identify each corners. Now its a piece a cloth that represents a folded longyi, a wink to the past, continuing the millennia old tradition.
