I"m gonna try this. I don't have that much noise but I have enough that I can't hear the really weak stations. I'm hoping that this will make the difference.

Just a thought: wouldn't it be better to add that filter at the radio end so that the noise that coax feedline picks-up on receive is also canceled by the choke?

I’ll never understand why people want to talk when the radio is louder than they are? Make your point - then turn the volume down and tell us what your going to do ! Unfortunately, your not the only one who does this.. sorry to be picky, but when your talking low to begin with, adding your rig noise isn’t helping - 73’s David K8KEM

It will not increase signal level but it does help decrease some of the noise so you maybe be able to hear signals that was on the edge of the noise floor.

Me thinks TWO S UNITS (12 db) for about an $80 total outlay is EXCELLENT in view the desired signal is not reduced!! The human ear can detect a volume change of about as little as 1 db....so 12 db is wonderful. But it may be there is a need for this CM choke at BOTH the unbalanced antenna (I have verticals) and the rig. Maybe one should be at the 1/2 wave on the feedline and this means the noise suppression is best at one frequency. Doe noh...need to apply one at the antenna and see for myself.

I have been off the air for 3 years and just last week bought a new to me FT-2000 and hung my antennas. I put the CMC at the antenna and it actually made things worse (high SWR). So, I lowered it and put it at the entrance to the house and back to normal. Also for the first three days of operating I didn't have the earth ground at house entrance yet. Now I have it grounded at the entrance and bonded to the house ground. That could have been a factor in why I was not getting good results at the feedpoint.

Still using them. I have lowered my dipoles several times to inspect everything and they are still holding up perfectly. I installed them at the feedpoint of the OCF dipoles so they are exposed to all the elements at about 40 foot in the air. Very happy with them.

Hello Charles, did you install the CMC at the top near the antenna or behind the radio? Did you install the 2 or 1 of them only? 73 of PY2DS

I installed them at the entry point into the house. I have a copper plate which is grounded to a ground rod. Then installed the CMC there. I installed both because I have two different wire antennas on facing East/West and the other North/South.
