Good, educational video. Thanks. I have a 1982 truck that I inherited after my father died. I just got it back from a mine where it sat for years and have fixed it up. However the truck has been sitting in sun and snow for all these years and while the original paint was red, the truck, due to the weathering is sort of pink. Before I saw your video, I used a green kitchen pad in one spot to see if I could get the pink off and with alot of scrubbing in one spot (and loading up the green pad) it did remove it and left the original red. But that would be way too much work. Do you recommend doing what you say here on such an advanced oxidation-it is way more pronounced and even than the vehicle you restored here. Much appreciated any suggestions and thanks for cool video

Hello, thanks for the positive feedback it’s much appreciated first of all full disclaimer. It’s hard to say without seeing the vehicle but I would say it’s worth a shot. Maybe try compounding and small areas first to ensure you’re not removing any paint from the vehicle also before compounding try spring the vehicle with simple Green and scrubbing that in with some soap using a microfiber hand and then compound after it dries, but only compound in a small area just to make sure you’re not removing any paint. I hope this helps.

Any recommendations for those of us doing this by hand? List of what we need would help. Thanks for the video. 😊
@DetailingSolutions
@DetailingSolutions 4 ай бұрын
It would definitely be a lot harder to do it by hand, although not impossible you can use heavy compound and a microfiber pad and a ton of elbow grease but you can get a buffer pretty cheap from Walmart that will save you a ton of time

Hey Douglass, thank you so much for the great review. I truly truly hope this helps. I’d say it’s a bit of a learning curve if you never did it before but just take your time and give yourself grace and you’ll do just fine. Just remember to not keep the buffer spinning in one space too long so it doesn’t burn the paint start on a low rpm somewhere around 600 would be fine and turn it up slightly as you go.

Is it true the oxidation comes back easily? My car have little oxidation and when I went to detailing shop they said it will look new with polish but it will come back again so paint it better. I really don't want to 😂, keep the good work bro gear video.
@DetailingSolutions

No, oxidation doesnt come back so quickly, especially not if u had a coat of upp protecting it. Sometimes what people are seeing is the hazing or the micro-marring left behind from the buffer which can also be fixed as well when done properly

What do you use for plastic surfaces that has oxidized? I've got an SUV with a rear brake fin made of plastic that has faded/oxidized quite a bit, but not yet to the point of peeling and nothing I've tried seems to make any difference. Also, even though the entire car wasn't oxidized, did you follow all three steps for the entire vehicle, or just the areas that were oxidized? I guess what I am wondering is, does the cutter have a negative impact on surfaces that are in good condition? TIA!
@DetailingSolutions
@DetailingSolutions Жыл бұрын
Hey there great question I think following steps one through three is important for heavy oxidation maybe step two and three will be OK for the entire vehicle just to remove some impurities from the surface of the paint as far as the plastic is concerned, you can’t buff plastic at least not anything that I know of, but there are plastic restoration kits. You can purchase such as dyes and so forth that will bring the color back.
