MAPA is short for mama and papa, it is also a Tagalog word for map. MAPA is an ode to their parents. MA- mama, mata(eyes) PA- papa, paa(feet) MAPA (Tagalog/Spanish word)- map. This song was composed by Pablo. The idea came up while doing their laundry. And Pablo asked the boys what they wanted to tell their parents coz during that time they werent able to go home due to their hectic working sched.

Mapa is SB19’s message to their moms and dads to rest from working for the family because now that they are grown ups and have the means to earn money, they will be the ones to provide for the family. Coz you see it is a Filipino culture that after the children graduate from college and they already have work, they help their parents to provide for the whole family. All of Mahalima's parents are still alive with the exception of Josh (guy in purple hair) whose dad is already deceased. This song is their tribute to their parents. It is part of the Filipino culture: parents take care of the children while they are young and when the children grow up and their parents get older, the roles are reversed. Mapa is one of my favorites. They always sing with emotions. You're right, all of them can sing, rap, play instruments and dance. They write their songs, do their own choreography, make their own videos and are self-managed. They all have solo projects but they work best together. You mentioned 90s style R&B, try reacting to their I Want You song. Crimzone, Liham and Gento (arguably their most popular song to date) performances are all fire, whether live in concert via fancams or the Wish Bus ones. Thank you for reacting to them. Mapa stands for Mama and Papa and also for map (mapa is Tagalog for map), as the advice their parents have given them serve as their map/guide and for which they would never get lost in life. It is a song manifesting “giving back to their parents,” as they would take care of them now or can also a way of reassuring their parents they can rest easy now because they are all grown-ups now and can fend for themselves. All five boys still have living parents though not too sure about Josh’s dad whom he has never seen (ironic that he sang the part giving tribute to dad).

They have not changed name yet but they're on a legal battle with their previous company over trademark. So for now we refer to them as Mahalima (mahal na lima or beloved five). And on their recent shows they just enumerate their names without the group name. Because you like ballad more, you should see: Tilaluha Hanggang sa Huli Nyebe Ilaw Liham Golden Hour Remix (collab with Jvke) 9:08 yes Mapa is Mama and Papa. Also it's MAta (eyes) and PAa (feet) from the lyrics. Rest here is referred to resting from worries of looking up after the family. MAPA is my most favorite song from Mahalima, it was the song that led me to them. In a universal sense, we all have parents or people who acted like our parents. So the song applies to different scenarios, whether ones parents is still alive, then it will be a deep song of gratitude to all the efforts they gave. For me who have already lost my parents, it is a combined gratitude and remembrance of my parents. I often play this song when I commemorate their bday and death anniversary or around significant holidays that always makes me long for my parents and the memories of times gone by. This Wish USA performance was made at Chino Hills, CA. There is another song tbey performed there, look for 'WYAT' Tbeir other more recent Wish USA performances, thr bus was at the Wish USA HQ in Los Angeles. Then other Wish 107.5 performances are in the bigger bus/radio station in the Philippines, where you would also find many more Philippine artists as well. Thanks guys for the RV. Check out their LIHAM performance @ the WISH Bus USA which they did last July..The lyrics are meaningful as well with beautiful harmonies... All their parents are still alive except Josh's father. MAPA means MAP in English and short for Mama and Papa. Many foreign reactors thought that REST means that parents are dead, but to Filipinos, it means to rest from working and the children will take care of them and financially as well. In my case, I moved to Canada the last 33yrs to help my parents. Even now that they're gone, my sister and I still continue to help our nieces who are in university.

This song meant to them so much and came up with it while they are doing their laundry and on a road tour away from the family. The guy with a low voice even cried when they sang this song in one of their concerts. At that time he only saw his parents a few times growing up as they were working abroad. Their songs are the story of their lives and tributes to fans. ILAW (light) is a deep song lyric video has the translation. As for Pablo he has this solo unreleased song and performed it in their recent US tour. Talks about depression. Beautiful song live performance in YT a fan made a subtitle for it. Josh, the one singing about the father part actually grew up with his father absent. When SB19 became a bit more known, somebody contacted him and relayed that his father had already sadly passed away for a while now. Him singing the father part was a bit hurtful if you think about it, but at the same time, the stanza fits him so well. Ken/Felip (the bass guy who sang a line right before the final chorus) actually felt that line because his grandmother passed away the time they were recording this. His parents are alive and they love him, it's just that they're both working abroad to provide for the family, so Ken and his sister were raised by their grandparents, which is why Ken is actually very close with them. So when he says, "Close your eyes now, take a rest," he also meant that as a message to his grandma in her departure.
