This is a great story of a lovely looking boat. Taking advantage of the 1987 blow to obtain the timber for the build was a wonderful way of turning bad news into good. Showing her in silhouette was an excellent way of highlighting her beautiful lines, thanks Bob!

Wow what a beautiful job he did building that Pinky Catch.... Wow I worked on a 92 ft schooner an I have much respect for anyone who builds or takes on a wooden vessel! ✌🏻💗😊❣️

You wonder how people finance such a venture, very creative with the names on the back of doors. You obviously have skill to complete such a big project, many people start but never finish for many reasons. Great job! She may be slow but sailing to most is the journey not the speed. Beautiful!

over my page within Face Book.. I've declared your amazing creation as the prettiest boat I've viewed over the year '16. I'm hugely moved! Thank you for this rich share Iain.. and may your soil be richly endowed with nutrients equal to Scotland's Finhorn Gardens' .

Great history of how this boat became to be being created from local trees that were not cut down just for this project but from the result of the big storm! I'm a non sailor so to hear the story and see interiors are the favorite things although I'm sure you crusty sea dogs out there will be laughing at me for that. I'm 53 so I guess there is still plenty of time for me to at least learn how to sail a dingy!!

Sponsor a door, what a brilliant and charming idea
@MsHan71 Жыл бұрын
I love the idea of people sponsoring a door- that's fun and enriching. We are embarking on the ownership of a wooden sailing ketch which is exciting. Wondering if you are still about in Portsmouth ? We are Brighton based and likely will be while we do some needed works on Kirsty.

she looks a real classic with good sea keeping qualities. You will need to sail her in northern waters around Scotland , outer heberides , Orkney and fair isle Shetland . i have in my beatup kingfisher 20 . All those years of building takes a lot of faith in her so make sure you use her while you can. You have faith in your boat you and her can singlehanded cruise our great shores.

Was the idea with a mizzen mast to hold the boat still into the wind while fishing?
@markturner42195 жыл бұрын
Yes, and to dampen the motion on the ocean swell. Even today, most motor fishing vessels down in Cornwall still have a small mast to hoist a sail at the rear of the boat for the same purpose.

Amazing build and lovely boat but not enough footage of the boat in detail and interior. Too much talk for me...

The reason it's called a pinky is because of the stern, which "pinked" or pinched (double ender)
