Hi we are RDG TOOLS a Model Engineering tool company based in Mytholmroyd West Yorkshire. We sell new and used tools. We also own the Myford Lathes Brand. We took over Myford around 12 years ago. Both company's are in the same building and we are open to the public. We are still building new Myford lathes and refurbished Myford lathes.

Hi Tony, Thank you for your comment, my reasoning behind this is that when towing our Caravan (which weighs in at 2800 kg) the Tow Pin is no longer at 90 degrees but on a slight back angle, this would place extra (and unwanted) load on the locking secure plate which is at the top of the Tow Coupling as the Coupling would want to ride up the pin, maybe this is something that manufacturers of tow hitches should look into?

I think these are commonly called "milling slides", at least in old (1930-1950) English model engineering magazines and books. Their design is always an exercise in compromise between versatility and rigidity.

Most Myford stuff is expensive, but the quality is better than the China makes.

Yes, but surprising what you can do with this Lathe, it is very precise..

Not sure a 3 jaw chuck is the best holder for the end mill. An ER32 MT2 collet chuck is fairly cheap these days, and will be more concentric.

Ok, firstly it is illegal to modify an approved towing device in all states. Secondly the load should not be taken on the "Anti rattle" bolt! In fact anti rattle bolts must not be tight when towing at all, they are only to stop the hitch rattling when there is no load on the ball. If you have an incident your insurance will wipe you for sure. I wonder why you need to tilt the hitch up anyway, van overloaded?

Sorry I don't completely agree, there is no load on the anti rattle bolt which is on the vehicle tow bar, it is the main clamp bolts that take the load, my small bolt is for adjustment only and to keep the pin in a vertical position so as to take the load off the locking lug.
