Lovely lathe, you would probably have been better off with the the M-dro kit with the embedded encoder for the cross slide. I fitted one to my ML7 and it saves having all the mounting brackets etc on your top slide. Keep the updates coming.

When i do the Dro on mine i will use the internal version. Far better way i think. Also i want to use a 3 axis as i have on the mill. The Z being for the tailstock. To replace to one i have on now.

I'd like to see a 2-axis DRO on a tailstock :)

Just looked up the pricing on this 🙀 A new or even a used colchester student is probably a better value for money.

They’re certainly not cheap. There’s no doubt that a Colchester Student has more capability. I may go to a bigger lathe in the future if I need a bigger throw. The other option was considering at the time of buying this machine was a Hardinge. It was difficult to find a good one at the right price.

Collet chuck mounting thread has a lot of swarf in it - that's not a good sign.

Don’t panic, I clean the threads before fitting any chuck to the lathe.
