I haven’t spent any time on death row in Texas and I’m pretty sure you haven’t either but from everything I’ve read these inmates have no contact whatsoever with any other inmates. They are let out of their cells only for very specific reasons and never have contact with other prison populations under any circumstances.

There are mandatory and automatic appeals both at the state level and federal that is why is take so long. Also voluntary motions by the defense also prolongs it. Remember they are now still innocent until and if they are convicted hence is why extreme care needs to be taken into account with appeals and death row inmates have died and found after innocent of the crime so you really need the time of at least 10 years but another issue is the drugs to obtain is so hard to get,
