Thank you all for making this amazing resource. Since beginning my social transition I have had to endure every issue that has been tackled in this resource including being misgendered in legal documents that were written in front of me. Not to mention prospective employers openly admitting the fact that I happen to be transitioning may cause issues with the other staff and that I may need time off for surgery or medical appointments as reasons for not employing me. Again thank you all for taking the time to make this resource and putting some major issues to rest.

I never really stopped to consider someone else's gender as important to me outside of wanting to have children. Like someone in the video said, gender is a small part of who they are. Transgender has absolutely nothing to do with intellect, creativity, problem-solving skills, learned trades, work attendance, or kindness. I have never met someone who openly told me they are transgender. It doesn't matter if they do or don't. I treat everybody the same. That being said, if someone shared with me that they are transgender, I would respect how open they were being and let them know my opinion of them as a person has not changed.

Thank you for that video. This is helpful, very informative and respectful. I enjoyed it a lot and i am very greatful that videos like these are made. I just want to add one small detail: Not all trans-people are happy to answer all the curious questions around them at any given time, especially not at work. I have to deal with a lot of indiscrete, very private personal questions. Additionally, i get asked the same questions over and over again by different people which grows to become annoying after a while. I would wish for people to be more considerate about what is and isn`t an appropriate question to a coworker (or someone you have just met). Also i would wish people would respect my privacy and withhold their curiosity. I don`t want to be reduced to just that aspect of my personality. I know, being trans is not very common and people are curious. But i have the right to be treated like a human being and not like some peculiar exhibition`s object to stare at and talk about. There`s more than just the ever same old trans-questions you could talk to me about at work and else where.

Wow i love your country, in the US we still face a lot of discrimination & there's nothing prohibiting workplace discrimination. Maybe at state level there are some protections, but it isn't Federal level. I'm super jealous!

Amber Evans this is great ! I'm happy for you! My employer has strict policies in place to protect all employees from harrassment and discrimination in the workplace. While they do not have to call me the proper pronouns nor my new name, what they MUST DO is avoid harrassment, discrimination, and belittlement. In my opinion anyone who doesn't welcome when assistance and protection are offered, well those people are fools. Again, your reply made me smile and I'm so happy you have that at work :)

Hi, I am trans but I only just (this month) started on HRT. I live as two people - the fake male me who works in an office every day and the real me who comes to the front the rest of the time. My work doesn't know and now that I've started on HRT I'm scared about what will happen when my physical changes become apparent. I work for a company that is, on paper, inclusive, but I've been there so long that I honestly think it would be easier to quit and move somewhere else and start with a clean slate as the real me. Do you think this would be best or would I be better off coming out to them now, even though I've only just begun my transition? Everyone else knows (family, friends etc), it's just work. I like that the people who are talking are actually trans or nonbinary. It is so much better than when self-appointed representatives speak for trans people. It is harder to hate real people in real situations...I really like how they show that this is difficult for them and that they just want to do a good job and at work and are worried about how to keep a low profile and yet be true to themselves. I also like how these people do acknowledge their sex at birth but simply explain that they deeply do not identify with that gender. A lot of the ppl who get up in arms think that the trans people don't think they were assigned a given biological gender. They misunderstand what's going on. That's why it is so much better when trans ppl themselves talk about themselves rather than others.

The advice in here about toilets is legally incorrect. Unless someone has a GRC there is no prima facie right for trans people to use opposite sex toilets - please see recent Lady Haldane ruling. Perhaps best for everyone to ensure separate gender-neutral option. This video needs to be rectified before being shared to avoid spreading legal misinformation.

Transgender individuals whom are from the western countries mostly are lucky to be protected by such laws, compared here in Asia, though Transwomen are tolerated here in my country but stereotyping and DISCRIMINATION, hate are prevalent. I can only wish to get out here.
