Laura Bretan is a Romanian-American soprano who was born in the United States. She won season six of Romania's Got Talent and then finished sixth in season eleven of America's Got Talent in 2016, both on Pro TV.
Bretan was the winner of Romania's Got Talent in 2016. Following that success, Bretan sang "Nessun Dorma" from Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot in an audition for season eleven of America's Got Talent. Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B, and Howie Mandel all gave the act a standing ovation, and then Mel B hit her golden buzzer, sending Bretan on to the quarterfinals.
