Hi D, great reaction and completely agree with the many commenters below. For a bit more context, like you, I'm in the English speaking world (across the pond in the UK). Thus, for us in the English speaking world, the names Madonna and Adele are immediately recognised. The same applies in the French speaking world for Mylene. As mentioned by others her shows are simply huge - from beginning to end - and I was privileged to see her 3 times last summer in France on her stadium tour. The simple comparison could be with Madonna (perhaps in some of Mylene's work of the late 80s and her 1996 concerts), but otherwise their bodies of work are very different. And yes, the French audiences really are that hyped up, engaged and into it (Mylene has a reputation for getting affected by the lyrics of her ballads and being quite tearful - the French crowds know this and often pick up the songs and continue - it's awe inspiring when they do!!) "Désanchantée" can be translate both with "disenchanted" or "disillusioned", depend of what you're talking about. Mylène Farmer is known (among other things) for her music videos that are pretty much short movie. Her actual name is Mylène Gautier,she' from Canada (Québec) and she took the pseudonyn "Farmer" after the American actress Frances Farmer. She's been around sice the 1980s (she looked very different, at first). Then she died her hair red, and made a few good videos (for the time). She has many fans in France, but she's also a gay icon there (not sure for Russia). I only know 4 or five of her songs myself...
