I was jamming with my 0-coast last week and it struck me that it felt like jamming with a TB-303. It's a little box, it has a very distinct sound (certainly compared to most of the small desktop monosynths in the same price range), you can set up a patch and then rock the overtone/multiply/decay time knobs like you would the 303's filter cutoff and envelope, and it works really, really well in the context of techno. That comes out sounding flatter and less compelling than when I thought it, but I was imagining an alternative history of dance music...

mylarmelodies What would be your take on the Arturia ~ Microbrute ? I am looking for a small affordable synth that I can place under my PC desk that I can drag out and piddle around with instead of having to go to my music room. So far, the Arturia looks like the best bang for my buck. They can be had here in the U.S. for under $300 and they do seem pretty versatile from the KZbin review videos that I have watched.
@mylarmelodies8 жыл бұрын
ReneeNme If you search for MicroBrute on here I did the top video :3 It's wicked - I've been using one live in band stuff for the last few months and it's been stable/great, though obviously minikeys are not for everyone, they're fine for programming the sequencer. I think it's one of the best value analog synths of all time (currently at least) with wicked character, so well worth checking out. But yeah, watch the vid for more!
@ReneeNme8 жыл бұрын
mylarmelodies Thank you. All I have got ( besides my small guitar selection = 6, amplifiers = 5, and small PA system ) is my Micron, Yamaha CS1x, and an old school Yamaha QY10 Music Sequencer. BTW, I will make sure to check out that video. On my way there now.

But it sounds good enough to make you want to try though, don't it?!
@evetsnitram88667 жыл бұрын
Its not that difficult. You take a sound wave and play with the filters to make it brighter or duller. Add an LFO for vibrato, shorten the duration of the notes and you get sequences of notes, then again tweek the filters to make them brighter or duller. Then you can speed up the sequences of notes faster or slow them down. Then sync it up to a drum machine and repeat. That's what most people do so the video concentrates on that to help sell it. Others like to go beatless with longer sustained sounds for ambient stuff. There's more you can do but that's the general gist of it. Looks like good portable fun!
@edwardprue6 жыл бұрын
Ummm...except that there are no filters on this synth. A good reason to watch the video again, I guess.
