Sounds really good. The poly stuff was a pleasant surprise. Spot on with the exercise of using one simple synth to make all the sounds for a track. Great learning experience. Nice one sir.

I love how everything is right in front of you instead of lots of windows/tabs or menu diving. Seems like it’s totally worth the $50 price tag!

GForce is doing good things. Good that they knew the original designer and collaborated with Novation. Didn’t think I needed another analog synth emulation but this one certainly scores some extra sympathy points.

that VHS intro got me all nostalgic about the music store a block away, I would stop by every time after school and play with the demo gear, until the store got tired of me being all inquisitive without hard cash nor credit... my mom got me a djembe instead

Surprisingly good pads for a bass synth! Showing my age here, but I bought an original BassStation using a student loan in about 96. A few of the knobs are a bit duffed in but it still works! I also got the plugin free due to having one of the SL controllers. I haven't done a direct comparison yet but I immediately loaded it up in VCV and sent it some totally random sequences, which was great fun. My first thought was the low end isn't quite there when you turn the cutoff right down, and also the unison kills the volume, maybe some phase cancellation there? However, from what I remember using the hardware it does sound pretty close, and the extra features like polyphony and fx are great. Certainly very good for a free plugin, and even if you pay for it, seems a fair price. Top demo too, nice one!

something to consider about hi-pass filtering in a synth like this, is the fact the resonance is at the bottom of the sound. meaning, you can accentuate the lowest notes too, if your freq setting is tuned right and perhaps keyboard tracked it can add the right bottom hump for the sound.
@s90210h8 күн бұрын
aka hi-pass work in lower registers too :p

Basstations are cool. I remember Carl Craig rocking one live. I had one, paired with the awesomely named Deep Bass Nine. Sounded nice. That, a Roland JX-8P, Sequential Drumtraks, a Mackie mixer and a PC running Cakewalk and Soundforge, with a Turtle Beach Maui soundcard/sampler with 2MB of memory was my first setup.

@MylarMelodies - have you spent time with the Bass Station 2? and/or specifically the kinda Elektron style Trigger Lock AFX Mode? thoughts? does the plug in go for that or would one ape it in the DAW? thanks! amazing vidja as always!

Still got my OG BassStation bought in 94, but DCO 1 blew after I plugged the wrong PSU in. I know it's much expanded versus the originals, but do I hanker after an updated VST of it? Not sure, especially at the full price.
@Winterdagen8 күн бұрын
Is the X-env and X-LFO thing directly copied from Norand's Mono? Or is that a widely used term? If the first one: booh! What makes it special on the Norand is that you usually don't get this stuff on hardware, let alone analog. Anyway apart from that, you made amazing sounds with this, as per usual! It really sounds great!
@mylarmelodies8 күн бұрын
I don’t think so - it’s GForce’s name for just a Env/LFO per knob! Unless I misunderstand Norands implementation!
@Winterdagen8 күн бұрын
@@mylarmelodies Ah ok! Thanks! Quite a coincidence that it's the exact same thing, lfo/env per knob. But hey what do I know, maybe Norand got it from Gforce:)
@Seanrayamusic8 күн бұрын
@@Winterdagen gforce had it on their soft synth releases since the 00s so it would have to be the latter if that is the case.

@ interesting and in that case pretty weird they didn’t bother to come up with their own names. But hey if it’s a common name for it then I get it!

@@_Kloanman_ Afraid not. Our final versions of those plugins were released back in February 2020, and we’ve since wrapped up development support. That said, we’re so grateful for the enthusiasm they received over the years.

Having once owned an impOSCar, GForce are without question the #1 emulation accuracy company....unlike certain companies whose name rhymes with Farturia.
@mylarmelodies7 күн бұрын
😂 Fair enough - I definitely like Farturia as well I must say, the newer synths especially show how far they've come (eg. Try the new CS-80 vs. the original, it's a different world)
