I recently "discovered" Myléne Farmer, as it is hard to know the world's great music, here, in the USA, since the 'media", and the music business assume the Listeners have no interest in other cultures! Regardless, I have spent the last five months, in a state of fascination, with the wonderful Myléne, and my ceaseless listening has been filled, with much joy, and excitement! One "discovery", which came as a surprise: I much prefer Myléne's performances, from "Mylénium", forward. Although Myléne Farmer, enjoyed many lyrical blessings, and great development, as a young Singer, I was a little bit sad, at the place her soul seemed to occupy. Specifically, I found the costumes to be androgynous, and bizarre, and the arrangement, of the songs was taking some time to develop. Also, I felt odd, seeing Myléne struggle with the pain her songs brought up, from her heart. Moving, forward, to (this performance), I see a fully mature woman, who has figured out exactly who she is, and what she wants to express. "Over here" the popular culture tells us that a woman becomes interesting, as an adolescent, and is unworthy, after her twenty seventh birthday! Myléne Farmer - on the other hand - positively blazed, with sexual attraction, from 35 years, onward! The new songs are very good, but the earlier songs are burnished, and given a lovely coloration, by the passage of time. Myléne's tears still flow, on occasion, but an adjustment - a maturation, and a healing process - has taken place, and it is beautiful! Of all the versions, of Ainsi Soit Je", this is the golden one; forever with me, to soften my heart!

I'm happy you discoverd her. Mylène tried two Time to export her music to state with english version of two song (maman à tord-> my mom IS wrong 1984 Que mon cœur lache-> my soul IS slached 1993) but none if them worked . And it's sad because she's a huge artist (but good for her because she wouldnt deal with being known in state) Also, if a Big artist who make phenomenal thing and isn't known in USA, i Hope that They're a lot of huge artist in the World that are known only on their country

French Audiences participate far more then US Audiences. The outlook on relationship with performers in America is often towards drama queen scenarios, whereas the French like me this now reformed American, fall in love with their performers. When French audiences sing along, they sing harmonically in key. Reminds me of when my brothers & I used to sing xmas choir songs door to door as children for tip monies during the season. My take, French music has grown to another level of professionalism
