@ it would cost quite of bit of draft capital, less cap space, it doesn’t make them SB contenders and they should focus on building with younger players. This draft has some good options at DE you could get even in the second round. Are they Myles Garrett no but we have many holes to fill and it’s better right now to go younger. Now maybe in a year or 2 you go for a Crosby or parsons if they opens up. If you’re in a better position then.

This has to wait till after Free Agency, if we get the 2 or 3 top O-lineman on the FA market then we can consider being in on Garrett. But if we can't get both Trey Smith & a top C then I think we have to be out. Keeping Williams upright is the most important thing, even it that means having an average defence, which prior to the Washington disaster this unit was above average. If Caleb is a dude he'll over come having only an average D

I think andrew billings is massively underrated and underappreciated by us bears fans. When he was around, Gervon looked like he might go all pro. Could be wrong on the stat line, but i think gervon went for 5 sacks in 7 games as a DT. That fall off for his sack production without Billings was kinda wild. Dont think it falls off nearly as much with Billings.

This feels like the Khalil Mack trade…where we jumped the gun on mortgaging the future. He was great, but we had so many needs that eventually we stalled out and could never get a foundation built. If this was the 8-9 bears in the second year of Ben Johnson…with some good players on the Oline (showing positive signs as a team)…I would say absolutely. Just feels like a lot of boxes need to be checked before a 30 year old pass rusher gets us where we need to be.
