Never trust the sales person on what can pull what. It takes some very needed math. In our search our RV sales or truck sales person didn’t know the method of making sure you are getting the proper truck for safe pulling.

Thanks for talking about how it's up to the RV sales people to educate themselves about the towing requirements. In other words, they don't usually know enough to make an educated recommendation. I appreciate that you took the time to educate yourself and try to educate your viewers. As the consumer, a person shouldn't rely on one source of information, especially something this complex with the potential for catastrophic consequences. Before you decide to hook up that RV to your truck, make sure you fully understand all of the specifications and how they affect towing capabilities.

Hey there, Toyota tech here. Yeah please don't try to tow over 10k lbs with your Tundra. You could with the V8 Tundras. But the silly V6 with the new coil spring rear end? Yeah I recommend you just dont lol.

I have been researching this topic on towing capacity for a month of so... The limiting factor in most cases is the truck's payload capacity.. most half ton trucks limit out at 1500 lbs of less.... which means passengers cargo and tongue weigh.... No half ton can safely tow a 5th wheel such as this one in the video

My payload capacity on my ford f150 is 1738lbs so 618 lbs remaining for 2 adults and a dog. It can safely tow but its quite close.

My payload is 1750 for my 2023 Tradesman max tow package and wife and I combined are 300lbs so ..... wrong. Tow is 12700.

@@xtreme4stringbass So if your actual payload is approximately 1700 lbs (1400 lb pin weight plus 300 lb passengers and cargo in truck) and you trucks payload capacity is 1750 lbs then you are right on the edge. Not a safe situation to be in, just my opinion. Your payload is your limiting factor, not you tow weight capacity, If you put your rig on a Cat Scale ready to be travel I think you might be surprised with the numbers you get.

Totally agree and appreciate you mentioning about towing capacity and trucks. I have this conversation with people all the time. My statement to them is yeah it will tow it but will it stop safely? That usually makes someone think about it more.

My 2020 F150 FX4 with 3.5 EcoBoost can haul it empty, however, add full carry capacity, or the normal things we all take camping, and it puts me overweight to 14,400. lbs. Not for me!

Just a quick note, Ford stopped building their Heavy Payload Package for the '24 model year so in reality, Ford F150's wont have the capacity in most cases for this trailer.

If you go by the numbers I could tow this with my Ram 1500 with 3.21 gears, albeit extremely close to maxing it out.

I liked this unit till I saw it was furnished with Furrion appliances. Furrion is nothing but junk. The only device they make worth having is their back up camera. I'd rather pay more and get a Norcold fridge or a Dometic fridge, with Suburban or Atwood range/oven. Love the size and layout on this unit, however. **20 years as a warranty admin in the RV industry.

My 96 Dodge ram sport could pull that easily I have a 7600lb tow capacity I currently tow a 2000 Layton fifth wheel by skyline and it will be the last camper I buy I paid 14,800 new

So cheaply made, they always think better quality and more money means people want bigger. They could have done this right with some true quality and let it be heavier with more payload by having a better frame and suspension and real tires and then they would have something special.

That’s not really the intention of this product though… the intention of those RV is to create a fifth wheel that is both light weight and affordable, selling under $40k. But I can agree that it would be nice to see a fifth wheel this size with superior quality. It would just likely have to cost $70k give or take.

Myles, you do the best reviews. Excellent copy and commentary. You’re right about the sharp edge under the bed. Stuff like that is easy for the buyer to correct but it seems so obviously a flaw that it offends me that the manufacturer either didn’t notice or didn’t care to correct.

It's nice floor plan not bad, but don't like the kitchen setup as much. If this is a couple's model, the both can be turned into bar seating. Also the fridge should be open on the other end, not open towards the couch.

Pin weight is different from payload capacity, and higher trim level is not necessarily a reduction in towing

Pin weight is a metric on the RV and payload capacity is a metric on the truck. So yes they are different, but they are directly correlated.

Higher trim level means more stuff added to the vehicle. More stuff means more weight added to the curb weight. The higher the curb weight, the lower the payload capacity. The payload capacity = GVWR - curb weight.

Dude get over it! How on earth is that 5th wheel not 1/2 ton towable. Just because you chose to not put a 5th wheel on your Tundra doesn’t mean this can’t be towed with a Tundra. Your Tundra eclipses this 5th wheels towing capacity.

TonyAnthonyRichards, He did not say that. What he did say was that his trim package on his Tundra adds more weight to the truck and because of that, HIS Tundra is not a safe towing option.
