You have so much to be proud of - your personal language skills and the way you and your husband are working together as a team to raise bilingual children 😊 What an asset! Priceless. TFS and be well 💕

I think it's wonderful that you and your husband are speaking bi-lingually to your kids. Both my parents spoke Tagalog but were told at the time that it would be confusing speaking other than English to me. I really wished they would have ignored the advise because I wish I could have learned their language. Thanks for sharing with us, Mits.

Love watching you and could listen to you all day! Your sharing about your learning the new language and how you are handling your children is awesome!!! I’m so glad you got the answer you did about your son . Do not worry about your daughter specifically re the language ... what you said is correct. Often they develop speech slower than what we consider “ normal “... but that is because she is learning two languages . I usually explain it like at this age they should be able to carry two apples. ... but she is only carrying one... so we get concerned ... but we need to take into account that she is also carrying an orange... so still carrying the same “load” it just just different ... plus she is the younger sibling and they often develop their own language and speak later .. because often the other sibling helps them ... sorry ... not journal related but since you shared I wanted to thank you 😊

WOW I absolutely appreciate the explanation! I have received comments in the past from people telling me that I need to speak to her in only Japanese and it has been a bit discouraging for me. ..so thank YOU for sharing this bit of information with me!!

Always fun to watch you create your pages! As for children in the background...I didn't hear a thing! No worries even if I did. You're a mom. They're kids. Noises happen. :)

Beautiful spread! I feel like every kid should grow up bilingual! What an incredible opportunity for them, sounds like they already have such a solid grasp of the two languages.

OMG! I know this is totally unrelated, but I have been OBSESSED with your fountain pen videos! I have been watching them as I have my morning breakfast and when I have my quiet time in the evenings...Thank you for your informative videos about the inks as well :))

It is so interesting to learn about what languages your kids speak, Mits! I wonder what language you and your husband speak when both of you are with your children? 💛

My son is serving in the US Air Force. He wants to live and work in Japan after serving and college. He is teaching himself Japanese and Kanji. He is stationed in Northern California and before COVID-19 he bought and read to me a children's book on potty training written in Kanji. At this point I can say hello and thank you in Japanese, I am not strong in languages.

Kids pick up languages really quickly, In the Skandanavian countries, they're taught English from the age of 5 which is why they speak it so fluently! I wish someone had taught me languages when I was so young

Miiits! So much of what you say in your videos is EXACTLY THE SAME FOR ME! Allll the time, I'm like 'yess! yess! saaaaaame!!' Going blank when you have to write your address etc. I had to write my husband's name at the post office today and I had to COPY it from somewhere in KATAKANA! hahha omg so embarrassing! Just because I panic. I know his name in kanji, I even can read our address in kanji and write it very slowly. But no way can I do that with someone behind a counter politely waiting for me haha!!

p.s. I keep a little laminated card in my phone and edc with my name and address on, so I can pull it out whenever I need it x

Ahhh! what a great idea! I don't know what it is, but my mind goes totally blank! hahah They must thing something is wrong with me haha Especially when I say, "I am sorry, I cannot read Japanese" LOL They look at me and assume that I am from japan and cannot wrap their head around that. haha I hope all is well where you are,..my area isn't the best right now >_< Please stay safe!xoxo

You shouldn't worry too much about your daughter, although I fully understand your worries :) bi-lingual children often take longer to speak.

What number stencil are you looking for? If it is the same type Ali Brown and all the art journaling people use I can cut you one on my cricut machine and pop it in the post.
