Worked perfectly!! Soooo happy to have found your instructional. Far more comfortable then translating from russian and risking unknown files. Did the job on my Mylink running 20.00 then upgraded to 24.5 as instructed and performed the unlock for video in motion and mirrorlink as instructed in my 2014 chevy sonic. Works perfect! Handcontrolls and all. Only think i noticed is it no longer plays mp4's because it no longer has the video codecs for such. But Handcontrolls and all work. Thanks man!!

@krakenredbeard , have you any idea what to do in case mylink is stuck in a boot loop? What happened is that i updated to ver 24. It worked well for couple of weeks and then one day it just started to loop on boot and never start up, just keep showing the fading chevy start up logo.

I installed 24.5 on my 2016 Sonic mylink. The update worked perfectly. Everything works as normal including backup camera and steering wheel controls. However, I forgot to backup my mgrmcm.exe from the previous firmware before updating. I installed the files for mirrorlink and it shows up under apps, but no matter how I hard I try I cant get my Galaxy S7 edge to link via mirrorlink. Ive tried three usb cables and even tried my old S5 and it refuses to link up. Any ideas?

I did this to my 2016 Chevy Trax in hopes of using WAZE and use video in motion. I updated the firmware to 24.5 and it made MyLink lag horribly. Back up camera take forever coming on, wouldnt register button presses most of the time if at all, and when it did it would take a good 5 seconds to do anything. Then I updated the files as described to get InMotion and MirrorLink. It installed the MirrorLink app to MyLink (Useless on Android S6, all it gave me was the Phone application) and it gave me in-motion video, however I lost steering wheel controls. I tried reverting everything back, I still have terrible lag and no steering wheel controls. Taking it to the dealership to have it fixed. I suggest not doing this until it has been tested further to work out the bugs. Also, the MirrorLink app was useless. It needs Android Auto for this to even be worth the trouble.

I appreciate your enthusiasm but I never mention it working on a trax and I also never mention it working on anything above a 2014. I also clearly state that you might lose backup camera and that some people are working on a work around but I've not really looked into it further. The only thing I was looking for when sourcing this info was to get video in motion as I'm an apple user so don't need mirrorlink but because it was an option I through that in there. Your not going to be able to get android auto nor Apple car play on these unit. It's just not possible. And i don't ever forsee that being possible. The stuff we are doing is simply unlocking things that were restricted within the unit. I think you completely misunderstood what is trying to be accomplished here. For the sonic and spark upto a 2014 there is no lag. The only issue is maybe losing backup camera steering wheel controls have a fix as I stare per the instructions.

I appreciate your reply. I wasn't trying to discredit your video, as I greatly appreciate the time you took to explain how this works. I was simply posting this so others in my situation that consider trying this don't have the same problem that I did (learn from other's mistakes). I have the fortunate ability to simply return my vehicle to the dealership that I purchased it from to be fixed- no questions asked. Others looking to do this may not have this luxury.

I am glad I came across your comment. As well I have a 2016 LT Trax and just want the mirrorlink capability. How did that alone work? Puzzling that there was any glitch, I would think that a Mylink is a Mylink. Trax is just a Sonic on steroids. What do you think of the 2016 Trax, I am unable to get the voice command pass through working on my Android mobile.....

i have a MY14 LT and im having the same drama. Updated and got Mirrorlink no worries but tried three different lots of files ive found and none will get the steering wheel controls working again. Pain in the ass.

Yep. Still have the issue and the dealer wants to charge me to try update it. Stating that it could stop the system working completely. I said im happy to pay if they fix it but not if they can't. Have contacted holden head office for complaint and they fobbed me off.

There might be, I haven’t had that vehicles or worked on that system in a very long time. I just scoured the internet for the resources. Ended up finding some work guys from Russia and Brazil had done, and just risked it with files they had and it worked. Just research and lots of google translate and trial and error. Bricked my head unit once or twice as well.

I tried this on my Chevy Trax LT 2016. I only installed Mirrorlink. The process and the installation went well. No Steering Wheel Control lost and everything is fluid. The only thing is Mirrorlink stays "Greyed Out" even when I connect my Samsung Galaxy S6 (USB or Bluetooth). Everything else works (Stitcher, BringGo and Tune In). I'm using the original USB cable that came with the phone. Does someone else had this issue and got it fixed ?

Our Abandoned World it’s been like 3-4 years. If you follow the guide in the link that should be all you need to do. But as I said even thought it shows mirror link on the headunit. It doesn’t actually work. I’ve had lots of people test it with different phones none got it to work.
