Hey Vince, your variety is why I really like your channel. As you implied, general troubleshooting works for many different devices, and discovering fixes for something may yield the same results on something entirely different. Thank you!

Just a seized Motor.. you are right, it is very interesting how an old toy can have the same Problem as a modern coffee machine. That shows, how little we evolved in some parts or how many old inventions get used in new products.

Great fix, Vince! Nice and easy (for someone like you who knows what they're doing!) That Nespresso does look like it can make a nice cup of coffee from a capsule. I have a Keurig that I use periodically, and the coffee that it makes isn't nearly as creamy and full as your Nespresso. But I do like how on mine, when I raise the lid to put a capsule in it, the simple act of lowing the lid back down and pressing it closed manually punctures the cup on both sides, making it ready for use. Who needs a motor and an entire movable mechanism, that can be a point of failure? Sometimes simplicity is key!
@Mymatevince5 ай бұрын
Thanks, I think it is a way to simply charge more. I completely agree with you. It is no bother at all to manually move a lever, it takes 1 second to do. Just adding pointless complexity!👍

My parents had one of these, garbage machine for the price. Broke after a year. Had it repaired under warranty, broke again after a year in the exact same way. Some friends had the same machine, same issues. Even in the store they admitted this model had a lot of problems and came back often. I have an essenza mini myself, which you did a repair on in the past, which has been going strong for 5 years now, even with me not neccessarily taking the best care of it with descaling and stuff haha

I have a toy from, I think, the 60's. It's a little cup, you put your dice in there, it shakes them up and tips the cup over to roll dice for you. Got it from a church thrift store. Didn't work. I heard Vince in my head "the motor's seized...the motor's seized!" Sure enough, turned the motor a couple times, batteries back in, works like a charm. Wish everybody knew to check a seized motor first instead of just assuming something doesn't work and throwing it out.

We've gone backwards. Why do modern devices have so much tech in them? The more that is manually done by the end user, the better as there's less to fail and the device will last longer. I'm not saying the user should have to do absolutely everything because that would be inconvenient but would it hurt if they moved a plastic piece to puncture the capsule manually? Surely it wouldn't.
@HanCurunyr5 ай бұрын
All nespresso machines uses motors to puncture the capsules in the last decade, only very old machines uses a lever to make the user do it There is a machine called Caffitaly that all models, the user punctures the capsules, because the lid is also a lever, you have to apply a tid bit of force,. but its one less point of failure for the machine

Hey Vince - try Kaffekapslen for pods, as you can get 10 from just £1, and many packs of 10 pods for between £1 and £1.40. Also 100 pod packs for around £10 or so.

Interesting I sometimes get tempted to buy one of these when I see them on special offers but seeing the amount of coffee you got for a capsule I think I've been put off the idea. Those capsules are expensive aren't they and I think you got maybe an inch of coffee. I don't doubt the coffees probably nice but yeah I'll stick to instant.
@lawrencemanning5 ай бұрын
@@teknikal6969 you are right to avoid them. They always seemed like a bit of a con to me. Plus you don’t actually know what’s in the capsule. FWIW my coffee choice is a 40 quid hand operated grinder and a fairly basic espresso machine that was about 120 quid off Amazon. I buy kg bags of beans. I stick to black doubles but the wife likes the odd latte which you can make with the steam wand. Moccas are easy too. I didn’t want an integrated grinder as it seems that it’ll be more to go wrong. And I rather like the ritual that goes with hand powered grinding.

You set the machine to deliver the desired amount of coffee, that machine has 3 settings, from factory they are 25ml, 40ml or 110ml depending on the drink you are making, 60 pods are about £10 and more and more of the pods now are switching from aluminium to compostible materials.

Sure. But on the other hand it is likely at least a more efficient for low consumption/single users than a regular brewer I suppose. For these type capsules you can also get reusable copper ones, I think. May have seen another design. I'm sure Nespresso won't be too happy about it if it became common use though. 💸 Then there probably be microchips in all these pods soon enough. 🤦♂

I agree, even the guy who designed the coffee capsules regrets his invention, what i do, is after use take the coffee out & when ive 1/2 litre of grounds, add it to my soil outside, it has rejuvenated it way beyond my dreams, I then put the capsules in recycle, some supermarkets do a recycle bag to put the used capsules in for you to then give to them, also ive seen fiel blocks made out of the recycled used coffee, I expect the quantities need arr provided by the big Coffee Takeout chains, not perfect but could be worse🤔
