The very best video on the subject. To the point, no rambling, exactly enough information without going on and on. We liked that you showed every detail of what you were doing. This told us everything we need to know to hook up a new smart tv to our pc so we can watch Netflix movies on a nice big tv. We didn't know there were several ways to do it. We're in our late 70s and this will be a snap for us. Thank you so much for using terminology we could understand.

How do you drain the wifi???
@stephenandrewstanley58015 жыл бұрын
Think of it like having several sinks in your house and turning all the taps on at the same time, the water pressure would drop, similarly the number of devices using WiFi could choke the connection for all the devices. I think I said that right 👀

Very helpful. I am currently using wireless between my tv and router and it is getting "flaky" (sometimes cuts out, sometimes won't connect at all). Smart phones and pcs have no problem. So, I am looking to use a wire between my tv and router, and this video will help me do just that. Most appreciated.

Hey MMV - thank you so much for for enlightening advice. Could you please tell me if it's possible to connect 2 routers (broadband) using the same telephone line? Such as - one router upstairs where my computers are and the other downstairs where the TV is (There's a phone plug nearby that I don't use)
@Mymatevince7 жыл бұрын
Hi, no definitely not. Once one router has synced up then the 2nd one will not. If you want a wired connection then you would have to run an Ethernet cable from the router to the TV.

Does the BT500 extender HAVE to be plugged into a wall socket? I ask because all of my TV equipment is plugged into a Belkin Surgemaster multi socket with 7 power sockets. There is 1 spare power socket in that unit.

What wires are you using to connect the power line adapter to the TV do I need to buy them separate
@tedkiser68603 жыл бұрын
On the power line hook up where the wifi signal utilizes the higher voltage outlet to connect between plug adaptors, what if the two outlets(house current) are on different circuits. Will it still work and how ?

All good. I intend to use a Powerline adaptor. The question i have is.... My master socket is upstairs in my property and my tv is downstairs. Do these work across different ring mains??
@borntodoit87444 жыл бұрын
Surely is worth trying it and see? Buy what u need , test ring main connectivity, return to shop it if it doesn't work. Get refund. Thought: Multiple ring mains suggest an architecture designed to electrically isolate one ring from another ring...one room from another. Hence no electrical connectivity is possible (potentially). Ask a qualified electrician to come in and quote for ring main extension then just ask him your real question. You get a quote Sewell as a answer.

Thanks, I haven't watched the video back in a while but if it was the small black BT powerline adaptors then they are around £20- £25 but you can get even better ones that allow you to connect more than one Ethernet cable and also ones that do WiFi as well but these can cost around £40-£50.

OK, I bought one of the Kodi Boxes but it isn't a very stable version of Android they installed as the OS. It is actually an extremely frustrating process with the Kodi Box. The Box that I purchased was the MXQ with KitKat 4.4 as the OS. It was manufactured in China so that should give u an idea as to how rough the architecture is on this little box. What Im actually trying to achieve here is either making the Box a more dependable OS because it crashes every three hours like clockwork and it must be rebooted everytime and I have to go through the entire process just to get back to where I was before I turned off. I know there isnt a timer, or automatic updates enabled, I have checked everything per the settings and all looks normal. Also, the Hard Drive wont expand to allow more items to be downloaded such as apps, movies, and music,. But the most important thing Im trying to setup is the process to get all cable channels including HBO, Cinemax, Etc.... I would be able to do this if my Smart TV had a Browser installed in the OS, But unfortunately there wasn't one installed. The TV I have is the 55" TCL Roku Smart TV and it was purchased last year. If you could actually find a way to install a browser on the TV's OS I can take it from there and throw this damn MXQ box in the trash. Do you think you can think of something that maybe I havent?

Hi Vince, just wondering what is the percentage drop using this Powerline in comparation to using an extender instead? Which is better in your opinion? Powerline or Extender.
@Mymatevince8 жыл бұрын
Hi, if you mean the Wi-Fi extenders then the Powerline are normally better than using Wi-Fi extenders because the extenders just boost the signal they receive and if they receive a weak signal then they are boosting an already weak signal. So normally Powerline is better unless your electrical wiring is very old then the extender may be better. Thanks Vince

Hi, ur just talking about running a wired connection to ur Smart TV if u dont have access to WiFi or of your WiFi is too far away right? The issue Im having is, I have a Smart TV and was quite expensive at that, but there is NO Internet Browser installed on the Smart TV. Is does have the pre installed APPS but yet once again, NO INTERNET Browser. Do you have any idea how to turn my Actual Smart TV into a Physical Smart TV with it's own dedicated memory as a hard drive and Browser so that items can be downloaded and installed to the TV, one thing in particular that I would love to install is Kodi. This provides people with free TV Who choose not to pay all that money to the cable companies. Any Ideas? Anything would be Great, Thanks.
@Mymatevince7 жыл бұрын
Hi David, that is correct regarding the wired connection. I know you can get Android boxes with Kodi on that you can plug into your TV (like a set top box) or if you have a Desktop PC you could run a HDMI from it to your TV and then everything that you normally view on your PC you can view on your TV (this is what I do and it is brilliant as my PC is linked to all the TVs in the house). I don't personally know anyway of installing a browser onto the TV unless the manufacturers release an App. Thanks Vince
