This is a good point. Since we know Rasputin was infecting the remains of Charlemagne's core, thus prompting the release of the Psion Flayers, the fact this originates from the Dust Palace makes it seem like Rasputin knows something. With SIVA currently starting to infect his Bunker, this could be Rasputin attempting to help the Guardians prepare for SIVA's advance on the Cosmodrome.

Exactly what I was thinking. Upon taking over the Clovis Bray cortex you can guess he learned of the existence of SIVA. He now senses it rising up in The Plaguelands, much like he did leaving us the pieces to build the Sleeper Simulant, he's initiated these nanites to aid us in getting stronger to combat what's to come. Spinmetal hat theory here...but if my deduction is true, this is huge. To this point Rasputin has seen us pretty much as tools. Resources even. But this? This is him DIRECTLY giving us something. Granted with no warning and the Vanguard is scrambling to figure out what's going on. We killed a god king...so Rasputin pretty much knows now that if there's one thing he can depend on, it's us kicking the ass of the challenges we face. He's still working solo, but he trusts in us Guardians and our light. The olive branch has officially been extended.

The tungsten rod thing was a way to get around the treaty that doesn't allow nuclear weapons in space technically it's not nuclear and does just as much damage as nuke because it uses momentum it's show in call of duty ghost

Brilliance 3.2 was transmitted to me from a fireteam member in a strike. It's the only buff I have currently, but somehow I transmitted both Brilliance 3.2 and Glory 2.1 to enemies in the Crucible.

my theory is that rasputin sent the nanites from orbit to help guardians against the upcoming SIVA threat. (also OWL sector seems to be the City's CDC/WHO. the Dawn Calamity sound like a sickness that spread somewere, maybe the City.) the connection to Mars seems to be that Rasputin has taken control of the dead warmind's territory there, other than that, there seem to be upcoming story elements there during the Rise of Iron

Protocol 19 is the erase of the nanites. We hear Protocol 19 in the archive mission. They were trying to erase the mites but rasputin got to them first. Then when he sensed Siva and sent these to get us prepared for the battle with Siva.

The connection to the orbital weapon lancet might pint to the purpose of these transmission: to penetrate deeply the Guardians as an organization for damging/intelligence gathering purposes. I'm also asking myself if the effect of amplifying rep and xp gains has somethng to do with what this is about, that is: if the narrative nature of this "mite" is reflected in the game mechanics. There's a good argument to be made for this, since the OWL SECTOR logs reference the usual behaviour of guardians as a fact in-universe.

what do you think about sleeper simulant? for the quest you need dvalin which means "the dormant one" and as we have seen this expantion is always going back to mars and there is a dormant warmind there could sleeper simulant have something to do with it?

The number of entries in the log for each infection type looks like it relates to the spread of the infection. Brilliance as has three entries and is the most common. Splendor and Magnificence are next most common and have two entries. Glory and Fortitude are the least common and only have one entry. Are more entries appearing as each infection becomes more common?

I wish sleeper simulant got its story expanded on, or maybe it will during roi. I was hoping you could either upgrade with siva tech, or maybe activating midnight exigent. (The program mentioned in its description) Both would perform similarly, but have unique and different perks. Maybe owl sector will play a role in its improvement, but either way sleeper will get an upgrade sooner or later. The quest for it was weird, the description still hints at a lot, and because of that, it has way too much character to be left behind with no more story. I expect cool things to come.

If the OWL's were massive bunker busters. What if one was loaded up with SIVA and was used similarly on a Rasputin Bunker in the Plaguelands. Considering that there has to be a source for the outbreak of SIVA in the plaguelands, I wouldn't put it past that potentially an area that got hit by one of these left in behind. Then the iron lords found it and unintentionally set it free before sacrificing themselves.

Imagine this. We all go crazy for these buffs and want to get them all (as is only natural for a grind heavy game) before Rise of Iron drops. Finally that day comes and we log onto Destiny only to find that our actual level has been dropped all the way back down to zero but only if we were infected with one or more of the buffs. We still have all of our loot, but we can't use any of it until we get our level back up again. I don't think it'll happen, but I honestly wouldn't be mad if it did. We'll probably just unlock a shader or emblem though.

Either this is a pre-emptive strike/recon by the SIVA/Splicers to infiltrate our Guardians or learn how to attack them in the expansion itself OR (and my money's on this one) the tech-mites are dispersed by a force like Rasputin or an unnamed NPC to innoculate our Guardians and their gear against the SIVA so it can't directly affect us like it can to the Fallen. The XP buff encourages us to do activities that bring us into contact with other Guardians and the benefits of the buff makes us less likely to try to get rid of it.

So OWL is an orbital railgun built for taking out hardened enemy positions, and anti bunker use. These appear to be some sort of relay/tracker, possibly for said weapon. Could it be a raid mechanic? I would assume it is something that points to the story in some way as it has shown up for everyone regardless of if they own the DLC. Which is something they have done for the other DLCs.

I think I know what this is. There's a new glitch in "Tenebrous Tunnels" to get a ghost and a SIVA fragment in an area meant for ROI. The website seems to say Clovis Bray is ground zero, that's where this fragment is picked up. Perhaps this is what started it.

Byf, might the infections be connected to the new Raid? look at this quote from the Fortitude transmission. "Shun modeled the outbreak for me after we retreated in disgrace. We are on track for total saturation of the Guardian population, excluding those off-duty, inside of a week.The infections started on Thursday and the Raid drops one week from that day.
