Hi, Ric! Thank you for rewieving of russian heavy metal. Blood for blood is not the best Aria`s song. Try to check - Angelic dust (ангельская пыль), Lost paradise (потерянный рай), Coliseum (Колизей), Will and Mind (воля и разум), Stand up and fight your fear (Встань страх преодолей), heaven will find you (небо тебя найдет), Shard of ice (Осколок льда). I think these are the best ones.

Good day Ric. I thank you for your reaction to “blood for blood.” Aria is not Christian metal, but they are not alien to Christianity. The song is a reference to the philosophical and mystical novel by Mikhail Bulgakov (his father was a clergyman) “The Master and Margarita.” In which he examines not only the story of the prophet Jesus, but also the whole question of good and evil, white and black. What is good, what is evil, what is light, what is darkness, and is it possible to so roughly divide everything into black and white, or is the world still much more complex than what is imposed on us? In 2005, a TV series based on the novel was filmed; you saw footage from it in the video. The aria has a song called "Antichrist" in which they look at the "other side". Subsequently, vocalist Valery Kipelov refused to perform it, as he positions himself as a Christian. As for the fact that they sound like Iron Maiden, I watched several interviews with the band members, in which they said that they were inspired by the work of Iron Maiden, Jude Priest, etc. and decided to create a group in the heavy metal style. Many texts were written for them by professional poets. Its not the Russian Iron Maiden. Aria started 10 years after Iron Maiden, so theyre from different eras. Aria has many western influences, for sure, but so does every western band, yet we dont call them copycats. Aria are very much steeped in Russian folk, which gives them a unique sound. And I would argue that Aria is the best metal band, with its dynamic sound, superior lyrics, and great splinter groups like Master, Kipelov, and Sergei Mavrin.

I completely forgot to advise you to listen to the song of another legendary Russian rock band, “Black Coffee”. Song "Vladimir Rus" (Wooden churches of Rus'). Dmitry Varshavsky is a diamond of USSR rock music. If you are ready to continue your acquaintance with Russian heavy music, I highly recommend paying attention to Master (“Master”, “We Don’t Want”, “2000 Years” - by the way, also Christian in orientation) and Black Obelisk (“Black Obelisk”, “Another Day ", "Wall", "Dumpling Room"). The first group is a branch of the Aria team at the very beginning and it will be good trash. "Black Obelisk" is more in the Motörhead style. Blood for Blood story is based on "Master and Margarita" by Bulgakov i believe. Blood for Blood is my way into listening to Aria, i'm not a fan even after hearing lots of their good staff. But "Blood for Blood" is what forced me to listen through to find my top3 with "Game with Fire", "Executor". I like the stories, with such little character twists withing them.

Hello sir Ric (I am new to your channel so I am going to assume that this is your name) and thank you for the reaction. Not only Aria did anything else beside this album which you have figured out yourelf in the video but they are still one of the biggest Metal acts in the post-Soviet countries - if not 'the' biggest one. They have had a couple of vocalist changes - Valery Kipelov that is singing on 'Blood for Blood' has left the band and the band is currently with their third vocalist, but are still going strong. By any means, check out their "АРИЯ - 30 ЛЕТ HD" thirty years of the band jubileum show here on youtube from back in 2015. It's a great show with encores from Valery Kipelov and other former members. And by the way after leaving Aria Valery has created a band under his own name 'Kipelov' and it is also very much worth checking out - it is a more modern Heavy Metal, but on the world class. I recommend his show with symphonic orchestra called "Кипелов - Концерт с симфоническим оркестром" also available here on KZbin. Maybe check out the track called "Castlevania' from it.
