Myocardial infarction, also known as "heart attack", is one of the main causes of death, as well as heart failure, a source of discomfort and disability.
It's often thought of as a problem for men, but it's often overlooked that it can also affect women.
It's important not to overlook the warning signs. It's important to contact emergency services as soon as possible if a heart attack is suspected in women, at any age.
As in men, prompt and appropriate treatment, including the necessary long-term therapies, can greatly limit the consequences of a heart attack in women.
We explain this to you with Dr Emmanuelle Berthelot, cardiologist at PuMS College.
