If you have nothing to bounce the light, you can always go wireless and remove the flash off the camera and hold it at 45degrees with one hand and take a photo with the other. This works and is better than straight on flash!

Nice tips. I would add from my experience, when everything is too dark around to bounce, use mini softbox or dome on straight flash shots. Makes them a bit softer. Also sometimes in this situations I use off camera option, just holding the flash with my left hand to the side and angled down. It looks nicer, but the trade off is you only have one hand to operate the camera.

Thanks for the detailed and friendly tutorial. Godox V1 is at a different level. Leaving aside all the features which come along with the strobe what leaves me speechless is the battery. Once you charge it fully it forgets to drain. It keeps on firing just like that. Really a wonderful flash.

@AndrianaAndri Жыл бұрын
Main points of the explanation: The first technique is bounce flash, which involves bouncing the flash off the ceiling or wall to create soft lighting. The second technique is straight forward flash, which involves directing the flash directly at the subject. Use the TTL mode on the flash for automatic settings that make it easier to achieve proper lighting. When using flash during daylight, TTL can also help reduce overly dark shadows. Choose a flash with high-speed sync feature to adjust for high shutter speeds when using flash during the day. Recommended flash option is the Flashpoint Godox, as it is more affordable, has TTL capabilities, and uses long-lasting lithium batteries. The Flashpoint Godox also has a wireless transmission system that allows for remote control of flash power.

The explanation of bounce at the beginning was good because people assume that they need to angle the flash forward 45 degrees etc which is wrong as you said. First take a photo in automatic mode on camera and ttl and see what setting it’s giving you. Auto mode usually does a good job. Then remember the camera setting and switch to manual mode. Usually, I would do f2.8, shutter 60, iso 400 and see how the photo comes out then start your flash at 1/1 and bring it down to your liking.

Thanks for this super well explained video! I've stumbled upon it during my preparation for a photoshoot that I'm doing as a favour to a friend - it's going to be a baptizing in a church, so no chance to bounce (ceilings too high, walls too far), and a very poor light conditions (the church has only few windows that don't let much light in). So I guess I'll have to point the flash straight to the face (I have a Godox V1). Would you have some tips on how to handle such a situation? Many thanks!
@CameraToFreedom8 ай бұрын
I photography in many churches with high ceilings. As long as the ceiling is white or light color you can still kind of bounce the light. It just means you have to expose for the weaker bounce. Your photos will still come out great. If that ceiling is a dark color then go for the straight flash or no flash using just the window light giving you moody photos. Up to your taste.

I have all the Godox flashes but I always go to this little Godox flash for most of my event photography gig cause of the size and how durable it feels. It does the job. Make sure you pick the flash for your camera. Here’s the Amazon link: www.amazon.com/dp/B06WD18596/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_SGEAF66JQYZ8VTER2QM7?linkCode=ml2&tag=myonghong7800-20

@CameraToFreedom Жыл бұрын
Thanks for that. Can you be a little bit more specific? You’re trying to photography a scene from a movie that already has lamps and ceiling lights on? Real estate interiors?
