Since 2004 MYR rate has been sliding vs SGD. The recent 2024 (appreciation of many currencies, inc MYR) vs USD was due to unravelling of Yen carry trade (instigated by BOJ which increased interest rate a tiny bit in late July),...causing a lot of USD being sold by US investors to settle their Yen-borrowed debts, hence DXY nosedived When DXY tanked, other currencies appreciated The DXY rose back up recently because BOJ recently said they will not raise the interest rate again (what abt later?)... this has an effect that encourages Yen carry trade or, preventing Yen carry trade from further breaking down... so, DXY rises back upward. The thing is ... the JPY is now heading back / moving again towards 160 per USD. It remains to be seen if BOJ will buckle later and causing them to increase interest rate In essence, the appreciation of many currencies vs USD since late July was due to Yen carry trade breakdown, not really due to the strength of MYR

The best performing currency to my definition are the ones that remains stablewithout erratic fluctuations for a long period of time say 20 yrs or more. Currency traders are like dirty scavengers and have no place and contribution in the society, taking note that even scavengers animals cleans up the environment.

This is due to the constant monthly conversion of the ringgit to foreign currencies by millions of foreign labor, parents of children studying overseas and Malaysians & local financial institutions (including EPF) investing in overseas stock markets.

im a singaporeaan, realistically that situation doesn't really relates to the currency exchange. the real reason been lack of job market with sufficient payout in Malaysia. Currently the malaysia Fed. Gov is calling for employers to raise minimum wages and it start with they themselve. until this becomes a norm,we in singapore could see a fade out of malaysia citizen working here. with current borderless job hunt, everyone works everywhere. just like in the late 80's every Singapore son went to the world to work elsewhere, till we ourself inland lacks of professional. Do not be alarmed..Taiwan japan s.korea also face same situation before. Most importantly contentment of a man is to be sufficient, and it is not totally about money.

Please where did you get this perspective? The Ringgit is exposed to China's economy which is going up and down because of deflation and huge internal debt slowing exports and collapsing real estate sector with a government trying to bail out and using fiscal stimuli and just kicking the can down the road. So trade with China as well as Chinese investments will impact Malaysia because of the exposure to China. And as far as the so-called resurgence of the ring it is concerned what are you talking about? It went from almost 3 to the US dollar to over 4 in about 10 years. The best performing currency, people do not live by day to day fluctuations They look at how they are currency can spend when they travel abroad and when they have to buy expensive things like electronics from abroad as Malaysia is one of the largest trading countries in Southeast Asia It has to import equipment. It exports commodities like palm oil and commodity electronics. It's not a semiconductor genius. It's still mid-level assembly with no design competencies yet many countries are actually rooting for that level of the value chain not just Malaysia. So let's not get carried away there's a lot more work to be done. There is a high brain drain from Malaysia it's almost twice the global average.

its about local and federal bank drastic actions, response for US interest rate. its great for instant gains but need to overcome with firm and long term actions. Federal also must be fair and transparence with all states and agreements to maintain economic and political stability.
