Myra DuBois in tribute to Lily Savage and the glorious queens of past, present, and future.

On 2nd April 2023, following the passing of Paul O'Grady, Myra DuBois had her regular Sunday residency at Lily Savage's old stomping ground, the Royal Vauxhall Tavern. The Tavern was packed with punters who wanted to remember Lily and what she meant to the scene.
Here is Myra DuBois' tribute to Lily Savage and her thoughts on the community.

I am of that generation you mention. In the 80’s & 90’s I trolled around London to the pubs & clubs to see Regina, Adrella, Zsarday, Lily & all the contemporary performers. The Cap, The Tavern, The Mucky Duck, The Brewers, The LA, I’d be there howling & whopping with laughter. What I want to say is thank you. Thank you for such an appropriate tribute to them all. I know for a fact both Reg & Paul would have loved it. If they were somehow watching they’d have been choking with laughter & ripping the pee nonstop. I can’t say more, Ive got used to thinking of Reg in the past tense but not Paul. Just thinking it makes my heart ache. Still, thanks & well done. Fabulous tribute xx

Well done Myra, you got Lilly just right and to mention 4 others from that generation was wonderful. Was not in the U.K. to attend but I was there in spirit, singing and cheering along. I’m an old taverner who can go back to pre Lilly times and all the others you mentioned but I love the stars of today and of course the RVT family and community ❤❤❤❤

Thank you darling for making this beautiful memorial speech and sharing the recording. Everything you said about Lily and the community resounded so deeply. In the early 90s when we all faced such hardships together, Lily, Regina and the others gave a voice and a beautiful presence to our humanity. Now, as you say, we face more challenges so we need to stand together to unite in the face of emnity and keep those gorgeous rainbow lights shining for the next generation. Paul(Lily) would be overwhelmed with the love people are showing, it actually still hasnt sunk in, i think it will take a while for it to sink in, i was gonna see him in panto this year an i was gonna wait outside to get a photo and i keep getting moments where i think 'oh i cant wait to see him' then i remember he isnt here anymore, totally devasted

I had the privilege of going to the RVT twice with my friends & both times were incredible. Wonderful venue, friendly people & great bar staff. So great we went out to a club after together. Both times I saw the fabulously raw, hilarious & talented Dame Edna Experience. Thank you to all who welcomed me.This venue is sacred & I hold precious the fantastic time I had. I was there , Lilly was absolutely hilarious, we used to travel all over London just to see her , we never did that for anyone else , Paul always made a point of thanking us for it , a true one off , it was a sad day when I heard of him dying , they were happy days indeed ♥️
