Myron Mixon went without competing every week wearing the same clothes, staying on the line of not making it and making it for 15 years till in the end create BBQ Competition that we all enjoy. He did 40 or more contest a year and lived on it. Myron Mixon did something that made history. Give the man his due he worked extremely hard. He's a legend.

Like him or not, the guy is a fucking legend. No filter and gets the job done. Switched to his hot & fast method a while ago, will never go back. I can cook anything I want, on an offset, in 6 hrs instead of 12-14 the guru's of today still preach. With the exact same result. Thank you Myron for passing on the knowledge, the tips, the tricks. I watch all the new guys, but in the end, I know who's the real deal.

Ive watched Myron through alot of shows and comps and i thought this guy is arrogant as hell and i i didnt really care for him, But, after i saw how he treats his wife when they are competing it changed my perception of Myron, and i appreciate his tenacity.And yes he is The Greatest.

Myron you are a cool southern brother dude. Just found some of your videos. I'm a Texas boy. But I love the secrets of the the Southeastern BBQ too. We all good.

Went to his BBQ School in Unadilla Ga. Learned a lot and enjoyed many conversations with Myron. Will go back...Myron is What you see is what you get. He is serious about the BBQ and getting you the right information..He'll answer all your questions. But if you are there to party and just drink beer , then he will not take you seriously. So you can go party..or you can go LEARN. At the end of the day, he sits back and tells stories about growing up in BBQ environment. He is Funny as hell and has a great staff. He is Serious when it's time to be...and Fun, Funny when it's time to relax and end the day. Great time, fun memories...and I can make you tongue slap your lips off with his style of cooking. I can not revert to my old ways of cooking after taking his course.

Jay Santos do you not work for a living?? Myron does too ...he happens to be a pitmaster. Its how he pays his bills. He has taken many calls from me regarding catering..pig pickings..bbq and more at no charge. I dont understand your level of hate towards this man. He is genuine..and paid his dues.
@aperad74887 жыл бұрын
Jay Santos I understand and appreciate your right to your opinion. However..I have cooked Bbq my entire life. Eastern NC style. Went to his school and learned a lot. Again..not trying to change your opinion..but if you can really read people..spend some time with the guy and you may be less of a hater on Myron.

My Beloved Mother (Home in Glory) always told me that you never ever will learn everything about cooking period. If you even begin to think that you have, something, and someone always comes along with something new that you never knew before. I learned a lot, a damn lot from her and will forever cherish those times in her KITCHEN. Thank you Mr. Myron Mixon for your expertise through your videos here on KZbin. My Momma loved watching those BBQ PIT MASTER shows on TV. LOVE YA MOMMA

Thank you for the video. I like hearing about Myron. I like him being honest and candid. I didn't enjoy the countless times he was talked bout like he wasn't in the room, boosting his achievements up. We already knew he was good. 4 time world champ, greatest ever. I got it. Lets hear him talk and the stories he would like to share.

What is Myron's opinion about Harry Soo? He has a lot of trophies from competitions
@DarrylMast4 жыл бұрын
My best guess, Harry Soo is the Champion of the West Coast, He knows what wins out there and has beat everyone, but the competition out west is not as stiff as east. Texas has got some big time champions but California when he was hot, maybe a few, Myron faced the best in the world daily. That is the difference. That is my guess

You should be rewarded to be a game changer in flavor profiles. And the judges should taste both un-sauced meat verses sauced meat. Or how about a sweet category or a cajun category?
@DarrylMast4 жыл бұрын
Barbecue Competition is not that sophisticated. You have the same cook doing the same things every week and everyone is doing the same thing. Myron says that. Sweet vs Cajun is not addressed. Nothing but the same thing over and over.

Even “Michael Jordan” knows to change food handling gloves when handling raw brisket and then switching to slice a cooked brisket for food samples in a live demo. (In a different video).

Myron Mixon is one of the most humble people I know. He is telling the fax He may be one of the only people to ever live off BBQ Competition and like he said its to hard to do it now. Myron Mixon paved the way for sanctioning bodies and contest all over America. Michael Jordan is still the greatest of all time but is being degraded by people with short memories. Myron Mixon is still the greatest of all time.
@SOLDOZER7 жыл бұрын
Actually fat up/down will depend on what smoker you use. And everyone who competes, injects. Even in Texas. Myron is not making restaurant BBQ. He makes competition BBQ. Huge difference.

Let’s keep it real, I bet his food is good, but majority of his wins are due to the judges already knew they were judging his food. Blind taste and it’s a different story

Totally incorrect Myron cook BBQ for years growing up at his Dads Store he pioneered flavor that had never been created
@jaylove98446 жыл бұрын
He probably is the best, but that mouth can go. He talks a lot of unnecessary shit. I love watching the programs and I notice he hates when Judges other than his "crew" judge his food in a blind taste test. Do not win as much, I wonder why?
