I'd say yes except for the traffic between Baltimore-Washington-Richmond. Expect slow downs and you need to keep a watch on the crazy drivers trying to beat the traffic. Once you are south of Richmond it's a really nice drive! Thanks for watching and safe travels!

I'm from Kentucky, husband is from England. Years ago I lived in Massachusetts, twice in fact (4 years each time). Last October we were in Boston. We're thinking of either going to Boston the first week of June, or to Myrtle Beach. Husband has never been to the beach here in the states. Of course Myrtle Beach is nothing like it used to be (last time I went was 1996, and before that the years 1977-1989). Sorry for the complex sentences, that's a tragic result of years of tinkering with computer programming languages and working in the air cargo industry :D Anyway, nice to meet you Rayspooner and great channel Steve and Sue. My husband's name is Steven :)

How much gas did it take you??
@TravelwithNJSteveandSue Жыл бұрын
Hello! We would use about 22 gallons each way. Typically, when at the 1/2 way point of the trip we would have a 1/4 of a tank left and then fill up. Then when we arrived in Myrtle we'd be down to 1/4 tank again. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching and for leaving a question! Cheers!

I've been driving to Myrtle Beach from Long Island every year for over 30 years now, and I have a quicker way than this guy did. First of all, I leave at 11:00 PM on a Friday night, so there's no traffic or construction to have to deal with. Yes, take 895 and 295 to bypass Baltimore and Washington if you're leaving in the daytime, but at night you don't have to. Where I differ from this guy is that I get off of 95 in North Carolina on Route 40. That gets you to Wilmington, NC pretty fast and then it's just a one-hour drive on 17 to get to North Myrtle Beach after that.
@TravelwithNJSteveandSue Жыл бұрын
Good suggestions! We've actually tried the all night trip but we're just too exhausted the next day. And we had tried 40 down to 17 but for some reason it seemed to take us a little bit longer. Maybe because we're doing it during the day and hit traffic. Now hear something that's in the works. They're supposed to extend route 31 from South Carolina up to 17 near where interstate 40 is. Once that's done you can bypass all the traffic on 17 with the 40 route! But unfortunately construction of that has not started yet. Thanks for watching and thanks for leaving your suggestions!

How long are you in the tunnel? I get anxiety when I’m going through them. Also, how long does it typically take to get to the half way point? We are planning a trip from NJ this summer, but I can’t drive straight through. I would like to book a hotel for a night somewhere in VA or maybe NC. Any recommendations for towns? Traveling with 3 kids and a dog.
@TravelwithNJSteveandSue Жыл бұрын
Traveling the tunnel is not too bad, usually get through it within three or four minutes and we've never been stuck in the tunnel with traffic. The traffic always moves well. The exact halfway point is at exit 33 in Virginia which is where we usually stop for gas and to get some coffee and food. they're also two or maybe three hotels at exit 33. All very convenient and right off of interstate 95. Hope that helps. Hope you have a good drive down. If you have any other questions feel free to ask

You are right! We grew up on Long Island and it was called the beach. When we moved to NJ it was called the Shore. (and that was hard to get use to!) I'm thinking about driving solo to Myrtle Beach from North Jersey. Suggestions, will be appreciated
@TravelwithNJSteveandSue4 жыл бұрын
Sure! Try to fly! Frontier Airlines has some really cheap flights into Myrtle starting each Spring. But if you are driving... there is less traffic on the weekends (except in the summer). Try to get through Washington as early as possible (like 6am) because of the traffic. At exit 33 in Virginia there is a Davis Travel Center that has everything you need. Easy on and off. We like to get off 95 and take interstate 74 in Lumberton to get to Myrtle. At that exit its 1.5 hrs to Myrtle. Take 74-->410-->701-->Chadborn,NC-->9-->31 (carolina bay parkways). From 31 they have exits directly into Myrtle! Hope that helps! Safe Travels! Please hit the subscribe button if you haven't already!
