Hi! I've just discovered your channel in my search for booktubers who read mysteries - not modern cozies or thrillers, but regular mysteries. I've watched your annual reviews for 21 - 23 and learned that we have similar tastes. I love AC, Butcher, Penny and Pratchett and find that Winspear and Aaronovitch are not my cup of tea. You have a great haul! Stephanie Plum is a lot of fun ( Grandma Mazur is my hero - lol), but I find they get "samey" if I read them close together. Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series is so good and so is Ian Rankin. You have many hours of enjoyment ahead!!

Hello and welcome! I love meeting new people with similar tastes. I agree I can only read a few Plum books at a time and Grandma Mazur is iconic. I'll have to try Michael Connelly's series soon. Thank you.

Many are new to me as well. I'm looking forward to trying them. ABC is not one of my favourites though it is much better than some others. Thanks Kiki! ❤

Glad I found your channel. My favorite genre is mysteries and creators, like me who present mysteries are few and far between. I also love the dogs in the beginning. Aloha.

Hi Marilyn and welcome! It's so nice to meet some older Book Tubers as there aren't that many of us. I will have to check out your channel soon.

I hope your Greenwood series is as good as it looks.

I've read 2 so far and am enjoying them, though not loving them. It might grow on me as I read more.

An impressive book haul! 😁 I'm a big Agatha Christie fan - I have all her novels and short stories in omnibus editions. I think I'd be hard pressed to narrow down which of her books was my favourite - she penned such an impressive number of good books throughout her career. One of her books that does stand out is "Cards on the Table" where she brought together a number of her crime experts: Poirot, Superintendent Battle, and Colonel Race of the British Secret Service; both from earlier novels...and the debut (in novel form) of Mrs Ariadne Oliver, the feminist writer "of detective and other sensational stories" - perhaps her greatest creation after Hercule Poirot.

Thank you. I absolutely adore Ariadne Oliver and Cards on the Table is a favourite of mine as well. No one beats Christie for mysteries.

Great haul! Ive been in a mystery mood lately so I'm currently making my way through Moonlight Murder by Anthony Horowitz, the sequel to Magpie Murders. I highly recommend if you ever get through your current tbr! 😆
@NerdyKathi6 ай бұрын
Thank you.😊 I did not like Magpie Murders, especially the editor so don't think I'll be reading the sequel. I hope you enjoy it though.

@NerdyKathi I can understand that honestly, she's definitely not for everyone. But I hope you enjoy the ones you've picked up!😁

Benjamin Stevenson wrote a book prior to Train/Suspect if you haven’t read that one yet: Everyone in my family has killed someone-more of a thriller and pretty gruesome too compared with the second book. The main protagonist continues in the second book you have which is less gruesome and more “cozy”. Love your Agatha Christie collection. I’ve read all her books except the Mary Westmacott ones.

Everyone in my family has killed someone is one I'm reading this month. Thank you for the heads up. I haven't read the Westmacott books either and there are still a few of hers I haven't read. I don't like the spy/ thriller ones as much.

That's quite a haul! I will be curious when you get around to Sheila Macfadden. I read 4 books by her...I think it was 4...and didn't care for any of them. 😮 Cleo had to get a barky word in. 😂

Frieda McFadden? I will let you all know how I find her and Cleo always wants the last word. 😂

Hi Kathi, thank you very much for the video. I guessed 32 books… so I was out 😂 We have some books in common, some Agatha Christie, the Ian Rankin book, Louise Penny. I also read The nowhere child, and the Joe Hill book. I hope you enjoy them! ❤
@NerdyKathi6 ай бұрын
😂 Just a little out. Oh I'll have to get onto Joe Hill and Rankin now. Maybe in a little while.

Phryne Fisher is interesting. I tried the books after I saw the TV. I liked the books a lot more.

I'm enjoying them very much so far, I just finished 2 recently. I'd like to watch the show too at some point.

I am always smiling when you pick up several books of an author you haven't read a single book:-) I have read the first two P. D. James books. very slow place in my opinion. Not bad but I would prefer an Agatha Christie any time they are old fashioned too but still entertaining. I need some entertaining element in a murder mystery too. I know you love TV shows too so I am wondering if you have watched VERA. the show is bases on the novels by Ann Cleeves and set in Northumberland in North East England, great Show for Melbourne Winter evenings:-)

I really shouldn't buy more than one book by an author I haven't read. Let's hope I like him. Hard to beat Christie but I'd like to try James. No, I haven't watched Vera or read Cleeves. Someone I might try though in the future as I often see her books.

Hello Kathi from another Kathi in North Carolina! Happy to meet you and pleased to find out you are a mystery and animal lover too! Everybody in my family has killed someone should probably come before the train one as it continues with the story. Have you listened to any Stephanie Plum on audio? They are fabulous!
@NerdyKathi6 ай бұрын
Hi Kathi and welcome! Very glad to meet you and yes animals books and plants are my passion. I am actually going to read Everybody in my Family has Killed Someone this month before the train one. Alas audiobooks don't work for me, but I might have to give them a try. Thank you!

I hope you enjoy the Phryne books, you have some really good ones there. Did you get Cocaine Blues, that is the first novel. I love the Agatha Christies you got, I can't afford the hard covers, I hunt for them in my local used bookstores. I have Five Little Pigs and The Mysterious Affair at Styles. But that is all so far, I really want The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. Have you read any books by Katherine Kovacic, she is an Australian writer and I really love her books. Her series is called The Alex Clayton Art Mystery, I have loved all three of her books, but my favorite is The Portrait of Molly Dean, it is mesmerizing.
@NerdyKathi6 ай бұрын
Cocaine Blues is also called Miss Fisher Investigates which I have. I hate when they have several names for the same book. I have several Christie hardcovers and would like Five Little Pigs. I find them for around $23 AU. No, I haven't read Kovacic but I'll give her a try. Thank you Sherri. 😊

@@NerdyKathi Oh, I didn't realize that was a novel,I thought it was one her books of short stories. I have been looking for the Christie hardcovers. I got a deal on Pan paperback first editions of Christie. Only one is in really great condition, the other two are not, but to own any first edition of Christie, was beyond my imagination, I love them. (I could never afford a hardcover, that is priced in the thousands of dollars.) 5 Little Pigs has a beautiful cover, I love it. It is also one of my favorite Hercule Poirot's stories. I hope you like Katherine's books. You're very welcome. Thank you for a great video.
