The markings carved into the rocky outcrop, known as Carn Enoch, are completely different to other examples of Rock Art found locally. One theory suggests they are a form of Ogham writing, another that they were formed by the act of sharpening stone axes... or perhaps marking the position of the tides throughout the month? With Welsh winter weather settling in, the slightest promise of clear evening skies has us racing for the hills… Humans have occupied these hills for thousands of years, leaving behind cairns, standing stones, cromlech, hut circles and evidence of large prehistoric settlements.
We realized sunset was happening, so quickly headed up to Garn Fawr to get a better view. The bright side of the early darkness at this time of year, is beautiful sunsets by 4 o clock. And today the sun lit up the foggy valley, creating a sea of gold, … We stood In awe for some time, using the last of the light through a group of horses. :)
