Mysterious Ash - STIHL MS661 ft. GRANBERG Bar x Alaskan Chain Saw Mill setup

In this video, we sawing first part of Big Old Mysterious Ash log into slabs, a large Ash log 1,2m wide using Stihl ms 661 chainsaw and GRANBERG Extra Long Bar with Alaskan Mill setup.

What length of bar do you use on your MS661? I have a MS660 and use a 36 inch bar but would like a longer one. Thank you.

We used a 74 inch Granberg bar, a little too much for that ash of 47inch 🤣

Why do you keep using the ladder on each run ?

so it's not necessary, but if you look at each cut, we used a ladder to get one side of the cut straight, because for some reason the undercut was at the end, and as we pushed too much, we got a slightly twisted first cut, so then we used a ladder on each cut to get as straight cuts as possible

metal on metal slides also much better than metal on wood. less friction less harder to push (a winch would be my first purchase anyways).

@@NathanVdV Yes, the winch is a good thing, I agree, we have it mounted up there, but when the logs are so wide, it's a little easier when there are two of us, I don't know why, but it's easier for the chainsaw to have a nice constant cut and not struggle at low revs
