A mushroom-based horror game that really captures the whole "mycelia network" aspect of mushrooms. "You, who recalls everything" is a reference to how a mycelia network can be vast and ancient (the world's largest organism is a 10 square km mycelium and is likely thousands of years old). What this means for the game is that by consuming the mushrooms, the people on the expedition were able to "tap" into the mycelia network and have visions of what had taken place above the fungus (and also how the deer were able to navigate without any other senses, they were using the network to navigate). The mist could possibly be the spores of the mushroom and the substance in the botanist's canteen may have been a sort of fungicide that could counteract the mycelium.

Oh I thought that it was not a fongocide- that it was extracted from mushrooms to keep hoping bodies in that place and the rememberance of everyone is basically the juice being conglomeration of everyone on the expedition, allowing them all to kinda live in one body. Tho with your explanation it makes sense why MC drunk that thing, because from my theory it goes that MC decides to contain it all within himself and concise himself to that wasteland

This is exactly why you shouldn't do psychedelics out in nature, especially something as hostile as the arctic. I think you were completely alone all this time and just tripping hardcore.
@illyria7756

Nature is the best if not only place to do psychedelics, tho idk about the arctic. Waaaay too cold, and it already always feels colder when you do these things. *when you do psy inside a house, you can learn about yourself, go introspective. When you do them in nature, it teaches about everything else and truly blows your mind.

OMG I tried Acid for the first time with my Fraternity brothers, in the middle of the woods. It was the worst experience of my entire life. I thought actual Satan was trying to drag me to hell, just like the movie of the same name that had released that year. The next day my brothers found me butt naked hiding in an abandoned cabin with a bundle of "spears made from sticks" I had spent the whole night sharpening for my "Last Stand". It was unreal!

@@DustinBarlow8P you probably shouldn't take it like that if you have ingrained fears or problems, in such a case taking it inside in a safe/comfy environment with people you trust would be better, to get those fears etc out of the way first. To get familiar with the effects of the substance, gain insight in yourself. Honestly I think natural substances are way better than chemically made ones. When going out in nature, connect with mother nature, this huge animal that is the planet, tell her to teach and protect you, she will and will show you amazing things. Maybe this sounds "hippy" to you, but try it and see what happens. I can assure you she is def not a hippy, and she is very playful. She knows what you can take and will be gentle with you. No need for any fear. Also, always remember, you control the trip, and everything you see is because of your own mind so you can change it in an instant. Go to a cool place not a fearful one, the power is all yours. I like how you made the spears tho xd, see you are a warrior, stand up to your fears, the devil isnt real, nothing can harm you. Forget religions, they made those to keep us in check. Go full fearless warrior shaman native.

This game was weird and mostly incomprehensible but I couldn’t stop watching! I have several thoughts: 1. Bingo with the Lovecraft reference - several minutes before you made it, I’d thought the same; 2. From the beginning, the scientist was a creepy jerk; 3. The game had a brilliant, subtle menace to it, thanks in large part to the music and graphics; 4. The dialogue was excellent English which at the same time seemed to come from a non-native speaker. All in all, very intriguing even though most of the time I had no idea what was going on.

That was... odd. Not bad odd, but definitely off the beaten trail. When the date of the notes was shown, I wondered if "the writer" was perhaps Jack London, and considered what it might have been like for people in that time to attempt exploration of such a featureless and hostile environment as the Arctic Circle. So that was interesting. Not surprising that such... fanciful.. people might have such reactions, too, especially with the fungal assistance. I hope that Aslak Karlsen Hauglid continues to create games; I admired that this was pretty coherent (under the circumstances 😄) and I especially enjoyed the rather excellent animal pathing in the action scenes. Overall, decidedly an odd 'experience', but not a regrettable one. Thanks for playing and sharing, CJU!

That was very strange, i liked it a lot. This is just my theory but; a “mist” on the lake area was mentioned in a note. I guess this mist is the source of all this weirdness, it’s like a time capsule whenever you get close or inside it and that would explain why we seem to be stuck in time. Maybe it comes from inside that cavern and it makes the mushrooms grow wherever it goes. Those mushrooms seem to have time distortion properties so the mc has visions of what has been? I guess many people have been trapped there, hence the “ghosts”. And i thought, at the mention of taking the eyes and ears of that deer and wondering why it would always find it’s way, that maybe inverything inside the mist become one single entity with it ; “dont trust your memory” “my thoughts arent mine”.

I really appreciated this game. The jarring, jumping cuts were done with purpose and did a good job at creating unease and disorientation. The part where you eat the mushrooms and sort of see echos of what happened in the past reminds me of how shamans used to partake in such things to locate game, etc. The cosmic horror element and the unforgiving environment of the arctic created a very unnerving and tense atmosphere. The story was just obscure enough to keep me interested without just leaving me confused, which is something I think a lot of devs struggle with when they don't have a solid idea in mind. The hostile, mushroom-eating deer were a wonderful creepy touch. I also noticed the scientist seemed to have a blackened nose, maybe suggesting frostbite. He also looked very skull-like in the darkness with the goggles and blackened nose, a detail that was not lost on me. Great job, dev!

With lovecraft you get some small bit of info as to what the protagonist is facing. Be it the reveal at the end of the dunwich horror, or the reveal at the end of one of lovecrafts lesser known storys, the beast in the cave. I dont know WHAT exactly we were dealing with here. Or atleast I dont get a 100 percent confirmation. With a little more work id praise it actually.

I thought that was a brilliant game! The strange cuts made the game feel like us looking at snapshots of lost footage. The story was well told, the animation was especially detailed and expressive. Even the touches with e scientist turning back to face you with that cheesey grin whilst saying nothing expressed so much. This was a brilliant piece of art.

This game's vibes are a cross between Lovecraft's "At the Mountains of Madness" and a story written by Jack London on psilocybin. 🍄😵‍💫😆The desolate and forbidding environment was definitely disorienting and added to the angst. The creepy scientist's smile _may_ be emblazoned in my memory for a while.😬 Imo, the animations were very effective and the dev obviously put thought and planning into anticipating missteps by the player (e.g., dumping the sled). The soundtrack was great. And, Chris' discombobulation, good dog daddy behavior, and buoyant commentary made an interesting experience so much fun. Moral? If you're going on a spirit quest in the Antarctic, _don't_ do psychedelics!
