I got a question, I'm from the United States south and we just experienced a hurricane, and we just went though some of the same things you are experiencing..so I was wondering, what are the emergency preparations in Japan? Are the people bombarded with constant weather people every hour? Do stores run out of water? are there evacuations or shelters? I'm Actually just kinda interested to see the differences in the reactions.

Currently living in Okinawa after the Typhoon has passed and lots of damage but tons of people without power. They usually warn everybody ahead of time to move away if you live close to the shore and to keep a few days worth of food and water on hand. Also, a radio to keep up to date about what’s going on in case power goes out. Most were lucky with this storm and the cell towers stayed operational even up till now. Something funny that doesn’t happen in the states is that the convenience stores do open up if there is a lull in the storm! Tons of people were out and about during the four hours to get bentos (prepaid Japanese meals), snacks, and drinks. It was a mad house and left a lot of stores bare because almost everyone lost power on the island. There’s usually no fighting or looting here from experience and the stories I’ve heard. They do have shelters available for the elderly and disabled to go to throughout the storm and I’m pretty sure Japanese emergency services are working even during the storm when able. Hope this helps answer some of your questions!
