When you work retail you're paid to deal with customers even if they're annoying, rude behavior like this can cause a negative reputation to spread like wildfire putting the business at risk. If a customer is rude or disrespectful it's the Managers authority to decline service, not yours. If the owners want to be unbearable and rude then by all means, more power to them. I've seen businesses ran like that and they never last long. Don't be so miserable and up tight that a short interaction like this completely ruins your day. The customers sign your paycheck, not the owners.
