So I was at an art museum when this statue reminded me of a scene in the trailer of CMBYN. I was listening to Mystery of Love last night and there were lyrics that said "Like Hephastion who died, Alexander's lover." So I did some research. Apparently, there are historians who believe Alexander the Great was in love with at least two men; one being Hephastion. I dug deeper and there was a person who mistaked Hephastion for Alexander and Hephastion said that he too, was Alexander. Which brings me back to the scene where Oliver tells Elio to "call me by your name and I'll call you by mine."

So what's interesting, is that I do past life readings. What my guides told me is that both Timothee Chalamet and Armie Hammer have a past life during WWII. Armie was a German and Timothee was Jewish. They had a 'forbidden' relationship because this was considered punishable by death at the time. Armie was male and Timothee was female, not that that matters, but what matters is they were able to recreate that love in this movie. Not only that, but for everyone to see so there's no shame. It's also a testament to the fact that love NEVER dies!

Call Me By Your Name signifies the highest love. A love built on the admiration for the one you love. A love so deep that you wish you were them. That you love and admire everything about them that you will take their name in honor of them. In the hetero culture, I believe women do this when they take their husband's last name with the honor of their love. But there is no higher form of flattery when Oliver desires to be called Elio because Elio is the kind of person he’d like to be. He loves him so much that he wants to be Elio and wants to feel what it’s like for Elio to call him and share his name. How deep a love.

This story is so universal that it doesn't matter if you are straight gay or anything else, you will feel bad, sad and you will cry seeing this movie. I think it makes people understand that love is love and that gay people love as straight people do, no differences. Two boys (or two girls) can make love, hope about being together all their life, can be silly and happy as fuck on the open air, can cry freely because one left, as much as a boy and a girl do in a relationship. What i find amazing about his movie is exactly this, everything looks normal and natural, not forced to prove a point, but still the message reaches everyone, because everyone knows that at least once in life will feel (or already felt) the same as Oliver and Elio did. Thank you Luca, Armie, Timothée, André and everyone that had their heart set to make this story so pure, i think that is what the world needed

The soundtrack and the love between Elio and Oliver was just so special, and I've been thinking about the ending all day, it's really a masterpiece.

Is there an audiobook read by him * o *)! where??? xD The book is so good, I'm so depressed but happy that the movie exists bc thanks to that I knew about the book. I love everything about this story. I've been crying a lot lately T-T Every time I remember the Monet's Berm part.... or when Oliver was sitting on the rock, Elio was wondering where he was and finally spotted him there... and what they talked there... T-T the days in Rome... The very final part.... Ghost Spots... TT-TT EVERYONE MUST READ the book, there's all the details you can understand a lot more better everything happening in the movie especially when Elio sniff Oliver's trunks xD in the movie they made it a bit weird haha xDDD

I uncontrollably sobbed so much I got weird looks from the people sitting around me. I then landed in a different country and had my own experience with a temporary lover who very well might be my soulmate. He moved on but I still like to watch this as it reminds me of us deeply in love with one another running through fields and forestry feeling the pure unadulterated joy of a child in one another's presence. I will love him forever, and I have this song to remind me of us.

I watched this film a few nights ago and it is literally all I have been able to think about since. It moved me beyond belief and this song as well as Visions of Gideon at the end completely enhanced the raw emotion throughout the whole film. Timothee grasped the obsessive, vulnerability of falling in love for the first time, while Armie showed how desperate Oliver was to be as carefree about it as Elio, but having something holding him back (probably his parents/societies disapproval). Acting was astonishing in this film, the music was perfect for it. I'm also 100% biased as I have been a diehard Sufjan fan for over 10 years now 😂 I thank the world for this film.

@madebyborislav69786 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what Pancho means with his comment. In the story, the older guy Oliver doesn’t encourage the younger guy Elio in any way. He actually pushes him away. I however agree with SuperSonicCat1 that Armie doesn’t really look 24, which is how old Oliver is in the book.

Such a beautiful comment and I will pray for that too.
@madebyborislav69786 жыл бұрын
Excerpt from the book (The conversation happens in the winter, after Oliver’s been home for months.): “I might be getting married this spring.” [Oliver] said. I was dumbfounded. “But you never said anything.” “Well, it’s been on and off for more than two years.” That’s regarding Oliver having a girlfriend at the time he was with Elio. And I’m not sure they are putting emphasis on anyone’s age. Did the characters even have a line where they stated how old they are? I don’t recall such moment. But even if they do, I feel like people are the ones to concentrate on age in their heads, mostly because they cannot put aside the knowledge that Armie Hammer is older in real life. But everyone’s free to have an opinion, so I respect yours. I will just continue to enjoy this story.

I CANT get over this movie at all. It wasn’t what I was expecting, it was something so much deeper. UUGHXBDJDBDH its changed so many things for me. I feel like im trying to get over a break up, and its useless and pointless and Im going to be stuck with this deep sadness in my heart. All I can do is ‘SSSSIIIIGGGGGGHHHHHH’

It's because it's not something tragic ( like a death of a protagonist) or something overly dramatic about it. It's just the *love* that touched us! This pure and simple love! And it's hopeful because one day we also might find that and oh boy , how lucky would we be!!

Josh Bishop you’re totally right. I feel the same feeling, and that’s horrible. I mean this movie is wonderful, maybe a masterpiece. But what it did to me, it’s strange. Since I saw it, I’m totally confused. I just baring my soul as a preface... the movie did that. I can’t stop cried.. maybe it’s a good thing ? Anyway that movie deserve so much ! It’s the new Titanic of the 21 century I swear !

pancho del ocho wow, is that how small your mind and limited your knowledge on the matter is? as someones whos read the book (and highly anticipated the form in film) i can kindly tell you that that is what the book is NOT (or least) about. sure maybe its what may appear to any given persoj of any age, but its about so much more and so much synbolism. of course a person who commented " fondling" doesnt get that. and yes lol id rather this trend than logan paul

Elvis DaBoss my heart breaks for you brother 💔 im sorry you were born to not see love as profoundly and openly. i truly hope that (if youre religious) then you could at least feel love in many ways with no judgement of it at all💛💜 god bless you

This song takes me back to the summer when I was 22 years old and in love......some have never experienced "love" but I have and hope one day you will too... Be encouraged!

I was feeling so sad and down constantly having manic attacks, then I’d watch this movie and just feel like all my problems went away. Most LGBT films make it a problem or forbidden or a coming of age story, but this movie makes it normalized and you don’t even think about it. Beautiful scenery, beautiful actors, and amazing acting. I can’t think of a single thing wrong with this film. Truly perfect.

Oh, to see without my eyes The first time that you kissed me Boundless by the time I cried I built your walls around me White noise, what an awful sound Fumbling by Rogue River Feel my feet above the ground Hand of God, deliver me Oh, oh woe-oh-woah is me The first time that you touched me Oh, will wonders ever cease? Blessed be the mystery of love Lord, I no longer believe Drowned in living waters Cursed by the love that I received From my brother's daughter Like Hephaestion, who died Alexander's lover Now my riverbed has dried Shall I find no other? Oh, oh woe-oh-woah is me I'm running like a plover Now I'm prone to misery The birthmark on your shoulder reminds me How much sorrow can I take? Blackbird on my shoulder And what difference does it make When this love is over? Shall I sleep within your bed River of unhappiness Hold your hands upon my head 'Til I breathe my last breath Oh, oh woe-oh-woah is me The last time that you touched me Oh, will wonders ever cease? Blessed be the mystery of love

I don't know if watching this film was a good idea, actually. I mean, I loved the movie, it was great and it's now my favorite. But at the same time, I feel like I should have not watched it, it created this sort of endless sorrow in me, I'm not really liking it. I know i should be more mature, but really, I hope with all my heart that the sequel won't be the same as the one in the book, okay that it's like selling themselves just because of the fans, but this is not a stupid movie, CMBYN is on a different level. It's art, majestic art like Greek statues which look down on you, because you can't and you won't reach their level of beauty.

Mith I feel exactly the same about this actually :p I don’t want a sequel but on the other hand I want to see this story continue.
