I was not emotionally prepared when you threw in Visions of Gideon at the end.
@InstrumentManiac7 жыл бұрын
Haha I was going to make a separate video for it but then I thought it would be better just kind of as a "sneak" attack at the end of the video to provide a stark contrast from the Mystery of Love tune. I think Mystery represents the early optimistic part of the relationship and Visions is the sometimes harsh reality of what can happen when two people are at different places in life.

[Verse 1] Oh, to see without my eyes The first time that you kissed me Boundless by the time I cried I built your walls around me White noise, what an awful sound Fumbling by Rogue River Feel my feet above the ground Hand of God, deliver me [Chorus 1] Oh, oh woe-oh-woah is me The first time that you touched me Oh, will wonders ever cease? Blessed be the mystery of love [Verse 2] Lord, I no longer believe Drowned in living waters Cursed by the love that I received From my brother's daughter Like Hephaestion, who died Alexander's lover Now my riverbed has dried Shall I find no other? [Chorus 2] Oh, oh woe-oh-woah is me I'm running like a plover Now I'm prone to misery The birthmark on your shoulder reminds me [Verse 3] How much sorrow can I take? Blackbird on my shoulder And what difference does it make When this love is over? Shall I sleep within your bed River of unhappiness Hold your hands upon my head Till I breathe my last breath [Chorus 3] Oh, oh woe-oh-woah is me The last time that you touched me Oh, will wonders ever cease? Blessed be the mystery of love

Thanks for the kind words Drew! When I do covers I try to take them in a very different direction since so many people try to do an exact replicate. Also the book continues with their relationship so it really is more of a hopeful ending than was shown and I wanted the strings to help show that :)

Sufjan has heard your cover! From an interview he gave after the oscar nom: "Have you given any thought to what you might like to do if you get the opportunity to perform? The only problem is that I've never played the song live. I'd have to figure that out. The other day I was KZbin-ing people who've covered it, and I was so impressed by how many have figured it out. There's one guy that did a medley, with the flute, the harp and an accordion. It was really sophisticated. If I can't figure it out, I'm just going to hire him to perform it in my place."
