Sunyaragi Cave is a relic of the Cirebon Sultanate which was built in the late 17th to 18th century AD. The history of the construction of the Sunyaragi cave can be traced from several ancient manuscripts left by the Cirebon Sultanate.
Sunyaragi Cave is actually a water park (bathing) which is equipped with an artificial waterfall made of rock, but because there are many artificial caves inside the building complex, this water park is more popularly called a cave (goa) rather than Tamansari.
The history of the formation of the Sunyaragi Cave began when Prince Karangrangen had the idea to make the place of solitude for the Sultans of Cirebon, which had existed for a long time, to be more beautiful and soothing. The place when it was completed was later named "Sunyaragi".
The term Sunyaragi comes from two words, namely Sunya and Ragi, Sunya means quiet or a place of solitude, while yeast means body or body. Thus the place means a place for solitude of the body.
