If the walls of certain homes could speak, some of the stories they would tell would more than likely shock and amaze us, or perhaps repulse and terrify us instead. This is one such story; if a house could tell its own tale, it would certainly be one we would never forget. A family moves to the country in search of peace, but those dreams are soon shattered by a supernatural terror. Something evil lurks in the woods outside of their home. This evil begins to stalk and wreak havoc upon everyone who dwells within the home. Can they save themselves before it's too late? This is the untold story of the haunted Hinsdale house, also known as the dandy house, located in New York, and the entities that infested it.

An episode of the Dandy house was on a show called ‘A Haunting’. I like that we get a bit more information after the the family left. I didn’t realize there was a hanging and such. Thanks for this episode! I learned a lot more.

The hangings, robberies and bodies keep in the crawl space was told by psychic Alex Tanous. There is the Alex Tanous Foundation that studies parapsychology and Psychic Phenomena. Alex Tanous was involved in the Amityville story, but left after the Warrens took over. Also the Warrens came to the Dandy house, but the family wasn't home when they arrived. After waiting for several hours the Warrens left without talking to the family.

I'm so sorry to hear of the house fire of your Aunt, Kody. I too loss everything in a wildfire (except my cat who saved our lives by waking me up). So I can only imagine the devastation of the loss in her life. Will keep you all in my heart and when I have some x-tra $ will donate. It won't be much and obviously can't bring back her beloved pets or any of the things that we truly treasure........😢, but I know that it was the kindness of strangers that got me through those first few months & almost 5 yrs later while still struggling emotionally & financially from this event in my life, I've have found comfort in knowing how many people whom I didn't know reached out & helped in anyway they could. Sending hugs & whatever you & your aunt need in the moment. 💜

NEVER CALL AN EXTERMINATOR FOR BEES call a bee keeper, bees often find a vacant home, barn, shed or tree when their queen dies and they swarm. A beekeeper such as my father was will always be more than happy to take the bees off your hands. As my dad use to say "if all the bees die then all the people will die next"

I actually live quite close to the Hindsdale House and some very close friends of mine have participated in a rendering of this story on video. All I have to say is....that area in general and the house specifically is just "wrong". Always have been whispers about happenings there (and around). As you know, everyone has their own opinion about what may be there. I truly feel like it goes beyond people meeting their demise and therefore haunt that "spot". It feels like something dark and ancient.....never having lived in a human body. It was here long before we were and undoubtedly will be there long after we are gone.

Hi, Paul Kenyon here. I've been involved with the Dandy House since meeting the family in 1973. I just want to correct a few of your claims. There was no crawl space "under" the stairs, but there is a crawl space above the kitchen which can be accessed as you walk up the stairs. Mike and Randy didn't say the boy in the woods was transparent, and there was no daughter with the name Tina. Mike's 3 sister's names were Beth, Laura and Mary. The house cleansing took place on April 13th, 1974 not 1975; I was present during the cleansing. Phil never went on business trips, but was away at work at the Ford Motor plant. I'm commenting as I watch. The house cleansing was not done solely by Father Al, but he was accompanied by Alex Tanous and a 7 member film crew from NYU. There was and is NO fireplace in the house, but the chimney was dismantled early on when there initially moved in. The only daughter who was ever allowed to leave the home was the eldest daughter, Beth amd her room was off the living room, not upstairs. Father Al never brought any paranormal expert to the house other than Alex Tanous who first visited the house in the fall of 1973 after giving a lecture at St. Bonaventure University. On Alex's first visit in the fall of 1973, this is when he gave his reading about 7 seven spirits of those who were killed by what he believed were Inn Keepers which he believed the house once was. Neither Father nor Alex attempted to ask the spirits to leave tje house on this first visit. Again, I was present. After Alex had told the family about a possible stage coach line in the area, myself, Mike, Randy, and 2 of Mike's other friends were searching much of the surrounding wooded areas. We came across what appeared to be a trail which showed what appeared to be possible wagon rut marks in the path. Okay, here's where I need to make things totally clear. Father Al amd Alex performed only one cleansing which was, as I said, April 13th 1974 with the crew from NYU. Never did Al and Alex cleanse the house alone. Also, during Alex's second visit he felt only ONE spirit within and feels he was duped on his first visit in the fall of '73. Case in point, Father Al did read the rite of exorcism on April 13, '74. Again, I was present during this time, sitting in the doorway of the living with 2 crew members sitting on either side of me. The house DID NOT shake. The sound emitted during the exorcism/house cleansing was that of the sound of a cross between a cat in heat/banshee cry or a bay wailing. The rite didn't take hours, but closer to 45 minutes. Clara's as well as my book, You Know They're Here was based on Alex's claim of his psychic abilities as well as our additional experiences. There is no proof of the hanging tree being used to hang anyone, but one of Alex's visions was that of a out of wedlock pregnant woman being hung there. You mentioned the man killing his brother which is true. The buzz saw accident was of Warren Emerson, but that accident happened on his father's property quite a distance from the house. I thank you for this synopsis of the story of the family's troubles. I also thank you for mentioning getting the facts as straight as possible. This is exactly was Clara has recently asked me to do.

Well there's certainly a lot of interesting information floating around about the place. But of course I try to do my best to get the story as straight as I can. Thank you again for your expert clarification though. It is much appreciated.

@MysteryArchives oh I hold no disrespect toward your story. I found it very professional and entertaining. Its extremely difficult to know the ins and outs of any story unless you were present. I must say, your accounts are much more accurate than many I've seen on KZbin. I think just about any story has its embellishments, inaccuracies and falsities added to it and probably are repeated more than the actual accounts. How else to make a good ghost story exceptional? Thanks for your understanding reoly.

I used read a LOT of non-fiction books written by people who had supposedly lived in haunted houses. I noticed three major similarities among about 90-95% of them. 1) They’re almost always written by women. Only three I’ve read were written by men, IIRC, out of at least 20. 2) The woman is usually the first to notice or experience anything, and the man is often a stubborn skeptic, either until something happens directly to him, or sometimes never. 3) The couples often divorce. I’m not reading anything into these similarities but they did start to really stand out, as the pattern emerged and as I kept reading more and more that fit the pattern.

I think some of these dynamics are changing and have changed in the last two decades. There seem to be plenty of male Reddit users that aren't shy about sharing. Also, males are throwing off the "rock of strength" facade that society has imposed on them. In some of the stories, it is now the female who is the skeptic. Of course, my sources have changed. Before the internet, it was all book with some magazine stories thrown in. The books (nonfiction) were written primarily by ghost hunting males. Now, I hear and read from KZbin and Reddit, with online browsing.

Patterns are worthy of recognition. The question becomes is this something that women are more apt to discuss, or even more likely to have experiences. Or if men are less apt to talk, or experience. Thus divorce would be logical end to either proposal. In becoming familiar with these narratives if places we call haunted. I've noticed some other interesting correlations beyond the gender of these testimonies. In other words, they are things for which we have as tet been unable to square with what we have some definitive understanding of...

This particular story leaves me with some questions… 1.) Something like this must have involved demons. Were demons mentioned here? 2.) Regarding exorcisms, are there still exorcisms going on here? How about other methods of banishing evil spirits, etc.? 3.) What was the deal with the restless spirits? Did the woman ever find peace? I’m going to rewatch this to see if I missed anything… After rewatching this, it definitely sounds like this is a paranormal “hot spot”, that spirits tend to return here, over and over again, for many different reasons. There are probably things about the nearby forest, areas under the house/under the stairs, especially evil/demonic acts that were done in earlier times in the house/nearby area, just a big supernatural hodgepodge of things going on… Kind of like a knot that is especially difficult to untie. That’s about the limit of my understanding with this case/this story. There are probably demons involved, but it sounds like the whole forest nearby has a good number of demons and sinister beings, etc., and that there are reasons why the woman has power over the other 6 ghosts…. 🤔🤔🤔🤔 Some kind of emotional manipulation, etc., no doubt. Isn’t it always the stories that leave you “hanging” that are always the best? 😁😁😁😁
@MysteryArchives
@MysteryArchives Жыл бұрын
My apologies if I left you hanging my friend (love that by the way haha). I do think demons certainly were or are still currently involved and I probably should've mentioned that more. To my knowledge the banishings / blessings / cleansings, although performed multiple times, were unsuccessful. Same with trying to help the restless spirits find peace. Although attempted, that too seems to have been unsuccessful. I think if it isn't the home itself in combination with demonic forces taking hold for one reason or another in conjunction with something in the home or the lands past. Then there could be a portal or hot spot located nearby, perhaps in the woods. It's hard telling the exact origin of how it all started. But the haunting still persists to today.

Kinda wild to me when people read or hear stories like this ask if demons were involved. Yes, demons were involved. Demons are always involved
@BenjaminGessel
@BenjaminGessel Жыл бұрын
@@josephringling769 It’s kind of a yes and a no… I mean, with these evil or more frightening sorts of beings-whether “grays” (aliens), skinwalkers (humans that practice witchcraft and can shapeshift), demons, Bigfoot, the Mothman, etc., demons are kind of the blanket term for the vast majority of these sorts of beings, or they are very much involved in the powers that skinwalkers, etc., have. But I can’t say with 100% certainty that demons are ALWAYS involved in these sorts of cases. Extremely likely though, yes.

Actually the place is now owned by a paranormal investigator who allows other investigators to come and do investigations. He has done a lot of research on the property. There was a large population of Indigenous people that lived down by the water and built ..mounds there. They also found that there were several people buried outside the house. If you are interested several investigators have done recent investigations there and have videos channels. I believe Paranormal Files was one. The bedrooms are named after the children currently. And there is a picture and things from the priest mentioned here. This land and house have seen a lot of history. I personally hope to visit someday. ❤

funny how everyone living in a haunted house always say "the ghosts, they make life a nightmare, the noises and the things that move around". My place is also haunted, everytime something moves by itself or a door opens on its own or lights start turning on and off by themselves I just insult the shit out of the mf's spectral ass. Been doing that since 2012, sometimes something has flown into my face and some other times I have been woken up in the middle of the night by a dark figure, my reaction is (especially when woken up) insults and death threats. Why being scared? What this mf gonna do? Cause my death? I'm sour and insufferable already, he makes me die and Imma haunt his spectral ass for eternity

I have to go trough hinsdale to get to my 300 acre camp in the next town over … I have been going since birth so almost 35 years… as young child my dad would always tell me to look at the top of the mountains/hills and I SWEAR there was always fog/ steam/ something coming from the woods.. my dad would say it’s campfire smoke from last night… we drive almost two hours to get to camp, and this area would be the only area with the “ smoke” ….let me just say the land is beyond breath taking, lush, very calm and peaceful… def have seen strange things in the skies at camp over the years…. Lots of wild animals. Bears 20 feet away scratching on a tree watching you. Def freaky… hunting season, the woods feel different, not because the animals know but the sounds/ vibe… we have found handfulls of arrowheads. So AMAZING to find.. mind blowing someone hand carved a rock!!! and when you find one you know how sharp they are…my brother and I have recently dug deep into the native history, especially growing up 5 minutes to the Rez… bartending in my early 20s at a bar on the border I would get treated so bad, get called white girl, get my tires slashed…..I never understood why because I can hit it off with anyone, (but I’m genuine. )… randomly listening to Jonny cash at camp one night, “as long as the grass shall grow”…. Which id say led us to research… it’s truly beyond sick what “Americans” did to the natives… flooding their town after taking their land, killing and destroying their food supply. Kind of sounds like what I’m living through today… I had my respiratory therapy career taken from me because I wouldn’t follow the bogus “science backed” vaccine… I have to grow my own veggies because everything is genetically modified. Very eye opening though, my son will be getting homeschooled because he deserves to know the real truth not what they push in school.. also condition you to work for life and not set you up with skills to get through life. Americans seem to be the only country to be in a rush to leave the household and do it on your own””””…. Except the system sets you up to fail. If I could go back/ give advice to my younger self I would 100% say college is a joke, you don’t need it unless it’s a specific speciality / program.. live at home at long as you can, learn to cook your favorite foods. Take advantage of your family and their knowledge because in the end you’re family is the only people who truly care about you, they will keep family stories, and history alive. The government does not lmao
