For all those who have commented or are wondering why the characters would care about wearing unique garments, body piercings, scarification, hairstyles and accessories in a world where everyone is blind, consider this: they identify each other by scent, but what happens when someone dies and they need to find and identify the body? Their sense of smell wouldn’t help then as all the bodies would smell the same - like rot. However, they could identify them by touch. The unique stitches on their clothing, the accessories they wear and their scars are all things that can be felt.
@cutiepiettvjackson87442 жыл бұрын
Another thing is that in real life, people like to wear clothes and look pretty even if blind, to other people. And even so, some just do it for themselves. Even blind people wear clothes, i mean, if i was blind, i wouldn't wanna walk up to someone and accidentally touch their "privates" so i'd hope we all wore clothes.

You know, I kinda wonder how a population of blind people were able to create such exquisitely designed clothes and weapons. Edit: My point wasn't about saying "oh blind people can't do anything normal". I never once implied that blind people can't accomplish tasks, or live normally. Wasn't the point of my comment. (And if you did get that impression, my apologies). Just that in a society where blindness is the norm, I wouldn't have thought that such people would bother making dresses or clothes that are typical of a fantasy genre, considering doing so no longer would have a practical use. Don't know about you, but if I were in a society who hasn't known vision, living in a post apocalyptic world, where there's an active religion that detests vision, I'd be very focused on practicality than aesthetics.

In this case, the bells are worn by princesses/queen/royal family. It makes sense to reserve them for the very few because if all people started wearing bells then it would create an unnecessary cacophony around,as they depend on sound to get information about their surroundings, a large number of people wearing bells or audible fashion would unnecessarily muddle up the environment. 2. The houses are all connected to each other with ropes running through the center of the street in order to act as a guide for all people with guide sticks. Apart from that they don't usually use lighting in their buildings. The grandest and biggest of their buildings are the ones which are surviving from the past 600 or so years from before the virus.

This makes no sense. A single seeing person could easily kill off a blind army with enough arrows. How would the army even know where arrows are coming from? How can they move thru a forest of uneven terrain without all having walking sticks? How did they even catch horses to ride?

If you are powerful and preach sight is holy. Then you discover others have it, would you relinquish your power to them because they are holier than you. Or would you claim it doesn't count! Because you can't comprehend someone is good at something you aren't and others might like them better. It's always been about keeping power.

@@Paul-zk2tn well, "witches" usually were drug dealers of premodern world and straight up weapons of mass destruction creators (poison). I really cannot fathom why one would want to kill them (witch is a nongendered noun, there were actually more males than females that got oofed, despite what twitterfolx want to tell you) or banish them. It's almost like they asked for it doing such stuff.

People with eyesight rely on vision, the fight in darkness and people with vision are at a disadvantage and are easy to catch. It's all covered in the series and answers your questions. It's a great series. When jeramarel fights with the blind in the dark his eyesight is useless and when he loses his sight he can't even cope in the world.

Yeah I was reading that if you go blind. That does not mean that your hearing gets any better. Although we've been told that for years. That if you lose your eyesight then all of a sudden you're hearing becomes way better.

The brain is amazing and can adapt to any situation given enough time. We know that the eyes take in information and send it down the optic nerve. The visual cortex then process the information and tells us what we are looking at. If any part of the eye and optic nerve is damaged, the information can't travel and the brain gets no input. However, if all is fine with the eyes and the image can travel but the visual cortex is damaged, this can result in some funky stuff. Like for example. Blind sight. So the person can't see, no sight at all, but they can walk and move around obstacles with ease. They can also react to faces and mimic them. Like I said, the brain is amazing and is adaptable.

Still, what I think, by the gene thing my school taught me, it is possible to have a blind kid while one parent isn't blind, and a not blind kid even though both parents are blind, if for example a grandparent of their's is not blind, so on and so forth.
@hotcrazycatladyme1682 жыл бұрын
It depends on what we are talking about. In some cases you only need one parent to carry a specific gene for you to get it, but when you have two parents it just doubles your chances of getting it. In this case we are talking about a fictional disease so it's hard to say. Plus, this is only season one, so we find out a lot more as we go.
@lel78412 жыл бұрын
The bio father could've had a new random dominant mutation that bypassed the disease's damage that the rest of the population have. I don't remember what that version of dominant is called. I wonder how long it would persist if the 2 children's lines never crossed. Betting the same type of breeding model that used with animals like cheetahs would be beneficial to spread the mutation out

For the people who are asking about the fashion choices, here are some potential answers - 1. The clothes dyed with color may actually be scavenged pieces of clothing from before the virus. This could make sense as many of their things are remodeled from scavenged materials from the past,such as plastic bottles & rubber tires. In this world metals are held in high esteem and called as "god bone",hence most of their clothing of the elite in this society is a combination of fabrics and random metal pieces and textured furs & leathers. It could very well just be a hodge podge of ancient fabric and metal bits put together. A lot of the accessories showed such as the metal staffs/blades are made from scavenged materials such as disc brakes and car panels with sharpened edges and metal pipes with sharpened points, decoration being done with gears & chains etx. 2. The dyes may also be caused due to processes for softening the cloth or getting a particular scent into the cloth.
