Something I love about this fight is that Rouxls is clearly pissed off the whole time. He used people like K. Round and Susie afainst you because they’re the only ones you haven’t beaten up yet, so he figured there was still _something_ you cared about he could use to stop you in your tracks. But attacking them revealed that you really _don’t_ care about anything. You just didn’t kill them because you never had the chance. And that’s kinda fucked up, even for his tastes But regardless, he still tries to keep up his comical “Geh heh heh! Toil, worms!!! Beholdeth, my TRUE powere!!!!!!” attitude until he realizes that the fate of the world rests on his shoulders, and then all bets are off

Agreed. Toby Fox loves Papyrus very much, I wouldn't be surprised if he designed Rouxls with the characteristics he enjoyed about him a lot. (I daresay their arrogance is fake and more of a mask for their insecurity, we've seen how lonely and unloved Papyrus and Rouxls feel, and how caring they become when they feel that someone genuinely appreciates their existence, like Sans, Undyne, Frisk or Lancer), But that could also mean that Papyrus will canonically appear in Deltarune soon, and that he may not be the same person he was in Undertale. (While there is a lot speaking for Papyrus being the Knight, I meanwhile have strong doubt about this since the Knight has been shown to mislead King and Queen about what will happen if they open a Dark Fountain. While it could be that a hypothetical Papyrus Knight could spread this misinformation unintentionally, it seems more likely that someone behaving that way is acting in malice.) I'm certain Papyrus and Rouxls are more stronger than they pretend to be (Papyrus has the Gaster Blaster in the code, and he consistently hides his strength no matter which route you choose, Toby doesn't make implications without purpose like this) and that the puzzles will become much more difficult in the last battle, but physical combat will likely never be on the fore front, they weren't designed for that and playing out all possibilities of a Rules Card is something I find personally much more interesting.

Nice to see Rouxls getting more attention. There's a lot of cool stuff in this, most of it is really high quality... except for the writing. Everyone is out of character and the dialog didn't even try to recreate how the characters normally talk. Especially Rouxls, he was definitely the most out of character of everyone by far and his dialog was just normal generic guy speech with -eth, thy, and thou randomly replacing words often ones they shouldn't be. I'm sorry if this sounds super negative but I just really care about how things are written and their accuracy to the source material. The rest of this has tons of cool ideas and stuff I really like! And Rouxls is my favorite deltarune character so any time he gets some attention is fun. Also whats with Rouxls replacing his usual "GOD...... DAMMIT!" for "Gosh darnit" it just feels so wrong. I feel like whoever made this didn’t have much experience or skill in the writing side of things.

Yeah it’s the one thing that kept turning me off throughout the entire video. None of the characters seemed to be written like how they are ingame, not even sticking to their BASIC STEREOTYPES at chapter 1 (such as mean girl susie and way too nice ralsei) Don’t get me wrong the fangame was AMAZING, sprite work PHENOMENAL, it’s just the dialogue needs some work

@@animated_finn I really enjoyed a lot of implied themes from this one, like destroying a dark world is a very cool concept and showcasing what Rouxls Caard might be capable of is also very cool. However, one problem I also have a lot with even the best undertale/deltarune fangames is the "fight button bad" mentality. Like Weird Route isn't just Undertale geno 2. Fight is just a different way of going about battling, and clearly Toby is making it less black and white then that in Deltarune, especially for the Weird Route. It's also showing a sequence break in the game, and how that affects the characters in said game when it happens. Sure Snowgrave happens to be really messed up, but I feel like it misses part of the point of having a Weird Route concept be distinct to just boil it down to a geno route versus the normal route. That's just my opinion though. This fangame actually seemed really solid in almost every other aspect, but it does fall into some patterns that most fangames do as well which is okay.

While Mystic says that Rouxls created a new dark fountain, that's not actually what happened. If you look in the background during 20:38, you'll see what actually happens is the Card Kingdoms' dark fountain falls over and is destroyed upon hitting the ground, which is why after this Rouxls begins to turn into a statue. He and his world are no longer being supported by a dark fountain and thus, begin to slowly die

What happened during the final phase of the Weird Route was that the castle roof got destroyed, and by extension, the Dark Fountain it supported was wiped out. Therefore, every Darkner in the Closet Dark World was turning to stone; the closest to a Genocide for this game. Though, considering choices don't truly matter in the end, they're all still alive for Chapter 2 onwards.

While it starts out slow, the battle mechanics are amazing, enjoyable in various ways (Undertale cameo and their unique spin on the attacks, objects and characters, fourth wall break, background animation during the destroyed world). I would expect the puzzles to be a lot harder for the final Rouxls battle, but "Not even I will know the solution!" was a brilliant choice. His sparkles in the Pacifist Route ... man. 🥴 I have to join the criticism of @mettaton1969 in regards to canon accuracy, though: Rouxls uses faux-early modern english, antiquated or anachronistic phrases (like calling Ralsei a "bimbo", which originally meant "boy" in italian and a somewhat rude way to say "fellow" in english before it aquired its modern meaning of "attractive, but dimwitted woman"), misspelled words, irregular capitalisation and loanwords from other languages far more often in canon than he does here, he also says "GOD DAMN IT" twice and probably in each Chapter now, "Gosh darnit" sounds very out of character. (In regards to the Dark Fountain, mysticslime misinterpreted the scene a bit, please check out @michaelbk0076 's explanation). The part regarding caring about Lancer however is something I can see him saying in a hypothetical final Weird Route canon battle, as he's the only "ruler" he's loyal to (understandably, considering he genuinely likes him as a father figure for taking care of his basic needs where his biological parent(s) are implied to be somewhat neglectful fair-weather dads). And the concept of constantly reaffirming that he's technically in charge of the rules is great, but maybe a bit too in-the-face compared to other lines that fit Toby Fox' humour mostly well. It's not a dealbreaker, but if the creators can think up any indirect joke involving Rules Card, I would personally prefer that. He seems to be very well aware what he is normally. Thank you for playing this mysticslime, I will definitely check it out! ... If I ever stop fawning over the splash screen, it is. Edit: I called you "mysteryslime" multiple times, sorry for that.

If you hadn't attack susie, ralsei probably would have taken her out of battle because they were too hurt to continue. Also, if you had chosen mercy, probably Rouxls would have felt offended, defeated and so he goes again
