I'm with you on this, for hunting it makes insignificant differences and the animal cannot tell the difference. Ive got a mixture of remington, federal, pmc, highlander, hornady, winchester some old norma brass and possibly others across 22-250, 308 and 270 with no discernable variations. Shocking conditions for a test but real life scenario. Keep them coming.👍👍

Cheers Shane, I'll probably redo the test after I change the seating depth as well. But I think it proved my point that it doesn't really matter, provided you have a good stable load.

I just go for better than a inch group . Federal sako or Remington brass all the same but I thing if the case was full in some calibre s it would change it

Yeah they can start to get a bit hot at that point

I was under the impression here in Qld that if you had a collectors license you couldn't hold an A B or H licenses, ammo or reloading equipment? In other words Collect or shoot, you can't do both!
@HuntShootOffroad5 жыл бұрын
I don't think that is correct at all. But if you do have a collectors licence you can only shoot those firearms on the collectors licence at approved collectors shoots. It's a separate licence with its own restrictions.
@WRHobba5 жыл бұрын
i dont know why you didnt shoot 5 groups each shot alternating the brass rather than grouping the same brass together which really mixing your brass...
@HuntShootOffroad5 жыл бұрын
Because I was interested in the spread of the group as well. I think I might re do the test and shoot them all at one target, for those that are interested in that result as well. Hopefully under better conditions.

@@campinghuntingfishingextre2628 mine is the old short action. I just went on the website and used the build and price function. It's differently there, need to scroll down through the styles (you don't select thumbhole featherweight, then left handed. You select left handed thumbhole featherweight). But you will have to arrange something to get it shipped because they are now over $100. Mine was only $99 about 5 years ago.

@@HuntShootOffroad so that fits the varmint barrel? Its $147usd on the website.

@@campinghuntingfishingextre2628 that's one of the options you need to select I'm pretty sure when I looked this morning. Yeah looked like they are about that price, you might need to get it sent to a friend in the US and then shipped home.

Have you tried out your new Glock yet?

You bet! But I just picked up something slightly more exciting this morning. Well 2 things actually, a Norinco 1911 45ACP and a Desert Eagle 44 mag! Both were super cheap, couldn't pass them up.

Hunt Shoot Offroad Now that’s one hell of a combo, I’m planning on a desert eagle in .357 myself due to being in Victoria.

@@HuntShootOffroad If you had a collectors you could get a HK 416 in 22. and a Benelli m4 12 gauge. The only thing from stopping me getting a collectors is that Vic have appearance laws for only category C and H which is weird. If the WT-15-01 gets the ok in Qld that would be next level.

@@CrazyDog651 I'll go for my collectors soon (just need the coin, getting the Dillon 750 first). If the WT15-01 becomes available again I will get one straight away!

Ehh you pick up your cheek in between every shot which creates inconsistencies. If you wanted to do a more accurate test set up a target at 200 or 300 yards and shoot 5 shots w/ each case using the same exact load and don’t move a muscle in between shots... that’s how the f-class and bench rest guys get such tight groups. I wouldn’t mix cases. Buy a damn lot of 100 and reload them 10x - limit variables, you owe the animal you’re hunting for a clean shot.
@HuntShootOffroad5 жыл бұрын
Your probably 100% correct, I'm not a precision shooter. But I think under the conditions it would have had little impact. But I wasn't testing for precision shooting purposes either. I might try to do that on the next iteration of the test!
@billbee2355 жыл бұрын
Hunt Shoot Offroad it’s still an interesting test and good shooting none the less. I did a similar test on a 223 Rem for an AR platform and noticed a 1/4 MOA improvement when I used all the same brass. Small - but enough to convince me to switch
@HuntShootOffroad5 жыл бұрын
@@billbee235 oh I definitely think using a single brass could produce better results, I don't think I could argue against that.

I load OSA and ADI because i beleive they are the same although i thought i could see the flash holes were different sizes. Ive played with bullet seating depth and have gone from 1MOA to 0.56MOA with just changing the jump to the lands! Also that right hand bolt, left hand stock and left eye makes the lefty in me confused :P Good job!

Yeah that's my next thing to play with is the jump. Because I'm actually right-handed but left eye dominant, it's actually amazing to use! I can see the magazine port and load it with my dominant hand!

@@HuntShootOffroad thats the way to do it then! I like that on lever or pump action that the left eye is looking down the optic and the right eye can monitor the action via the ejection port!
