I always use a screwdriver to dig in and around the area of the roots before pouring the boiling water in

I've always used boiling water on weeds and found it to be extremely effective. Good weed control.
@creationsbydx2 жыл бұрын
Thats awesome, do you fins it takes more than one pass, and do you pull them after or let them die on the spot?
@1legend5172 жыл бұрын
@@creationsbydx I find it usually just kills them straight away and they shrivel up and die.

Awesome, ill try again in the spring perhaps I didnt get to the soon enough

@@creationsbydx The problem with boiling water is its only good for small areas. It's pretty effective but some weeds just get burnt and grow back. Weed killer sprays are better for larger areas and lawn.

what about a slow moving steam mop?
@creationsbydx Жыл бұрын
Yea I doubt that will get down to the roots

@@creationsbydx this calls for a meat thermometer buried 2 inches down and test it. can you do it?

You can power wash and fill the cracks in your driveway and sidewalk by cutting up a pool noodle and stuffing it in the crack and then covering it with that crack sealant stuff. There’s KZbin vids on it. It makes everything look so much better and makes the concrete last longer

I added a little salt to my boiling water cause I wanted to get rid of grass and weeds and did not want anything to grow. After a couple of days of sunshine weeds and grass were dead. Downside when you have large area to do it is very time consuming.

Excellent tip, was the salt added before the boil or after? Table salt? Or Epsom
@stevexracer4309Ай бұрын
You purposely salted your ground? You will have to disclose that when you want to sell your house. Nothing useful grows on salted land. They used to do this a long time ago as a military tactic to starve people out of their lands. That is where the term "scorched earth" comes from

White vinegar, water and some dish soap.. or just white vinegar and voila… death and decay.. this will murder your grass btw.. so if you have any creeping Charlie right when it starts to grow spray the patch. If it’s all over your yard in your grass you may want to take a season and just murder your grass and reseed the start of the next season

Yea I have a ton of creeping Charlie in my yard sucks

Steam is capable of being much hotter than liquid water. I would have used a steam cleaner on the weeds. I will experiment soon with vinegar in a steam cleaner for extra destructive potential.

Need to add some iodized salt to the water first, it will dehydrate the entire weed as well, killing the root

Although this is good method for killing weeds you should be advised that is can also sterilize the soil and won't allow anything to grow much of after that.
@creationsbydx4 ай бұрын
Not a bad thing for drive way cracks at least
@stevexracer4309Ай бұрын
Thats not true. Soil bacteria and fungi multiply very fast. The area will be recolonized and all the boiled dead bacteria and fungi turn into food. Boiling water doesn't destroy the nutrients of already decaying plant material that the bacteria and fungi are eating

I almost couldn’t get through the “how to boil water” part. Excruciating and so unnecessary. Boiled water takes a few days to see results. Boiled vinegar and water works like a charm.
